^^^ Sounds like the sort of reply you would get on the 'Newswatch' program the BBC airs on Saturday mornings i.e. a program that shows that they listen to complaints about what they air but then go on to say that they were right all along to do what they did. tongue out

Been a bit quiet in here of late, so... I'm off to The Belfry this weekend (Sunday / Monday), playing The Derby and PGA National...can't wait! The weather looks like it should be OK too, fingers-crossed.

Also had the day off yesterday and took my Holy Grail new (from 2004) MP-37s to get fitted and re-gripped in blue/black Golf Pride multi-compounds, so I'm now fully staff player colour co-ordinated!

Had a short game lesson while I was there which was good but I really need to learn to be slower and smoother with my swing around the green...we were only chipping about 20yds and I was still managing to get some bend on the shaft hehe

Nice! That'll be a fun Sunday/Monday! Fingers crossed for the weather. I've heard great things about The PGA. A few people i know that have played there prefer it to the Brabazon.

It's an awesome place. I loved it.

Try and upgrade to play the brabazon instead of the Derby if you can. The Derby is OK in the sense that you'd be happy to pay 20 quid if it was local to you, but it's really not a patch on the other two, and is really very easy in comparison. I played like an absolute tosser on the brabazon, but loved every minute of it.

Stay out of the fairway bunkers on the PGA. They're a shot lost, guaranteed. If you're going to be off line, it's often better to be further off line if you're going to miss the fairway. Don't hit driver on the 4th laugh I learnt that one the hard way.

If you usually carry, then I'd recommend hiring a motocaddy from the club shop. The PGA is a bloody long walk.

The burgers in Sam's club house are a bit pricy, but delicious.

Played in a society day at Pyrford last Saturday. Came 3rd out of 16 with 37 points, but I was the only one of the chaps with no blobs, so I won the blob money pot of £18 - happy days smile

Oh well it'll be one to tick off the list either way and for £99 (two rounds and one night's stay), it's hardly breaking the bank. There's four of us going, so we'll have a good craic and it's a day off work playing golf...what's not to like!

Thought the British Seniors was great to watch at the weekend. Sunningdale is now top of my list of courses I'd like to play. Bet it's way too expensive and exclusive though! scratchchin

At a guess in the summer you're probably looking at about £160 a round...Given the quality of the course and how other similar courses are priced.

A plethora of expensive courses round that area I would love to play, including Sunningdale, Wentworth West, Walton Heath, The Berkshire etc...

I was thinking that was very expensive but then I thought how much would people pay to play at Anfield or old Trafford £160 seems very reasonable at that rate.

Finally started to put scores into Golf shake, spat out a 26.7 handicap from my last 3 rounds.

Then managed 40 points off the back of that on Tuesday with a 95, pretty chuffed with that. Couple of 3 putts, one in the water attempting a green in 2 on a par 5 after a wind assisted drive. But then also a direct hit on a flag leaving a 1 foot putt for par on the SI 1 hole that would have seen my attempted flop from 30 yards fly just as far off the back of the green had it not been for the flag.

Wow. That's just silly prices IMO. How anyone can justify that for a round of golf is beyond me.

That's cheap in comparison to what a visitor green fee on the west at Wentworth used to be!

You can pay some really crazy money for a round of golf. The course at the Wynn hotel in Vegas is $500 a round. I know people don't go on golf holidays to Vegas, but in a month long stay overlooking that course I never saw one person on it. Such a waste. I'd have played it for $100.

I think the best way to play some of the more exclusive courses in the UK is on a stay and play deal. Casual green fees for these courses are ridiculous.

Definitely plan on doing the Wolf Creek course in Vegas one day. The value of that is sensational by the looks of things.

Annihilated my PB today, 46 points on my way to an 86 on a course I wouldn't have even thought I could go sub 100 on a year ago, 30 putts for the round. Well chuffed. Slashed the handicap to 21.9.
