Well luckily for me I don't seem to have that problem - but it has been known to smash a windscreen every now and then hehe

Played 9 holes tonight, absolutely glorious out there! The view from the 6th tee:

Played quite well, shot 41 for the front 9 which included a 7 on the 6th!

Beautiful view Rosscow. If you ever fancy inviting me over for a round, feel free wink

I know we've covered it before but I've just had £150 worth of AG vouchers land on my desk. Do I splash out on a rangefinder or a GPS watch. These are the only things I'm looking at buying, been after one or the other for a while & can't decide which! Any personal recommendations?

Bought a Bushnell Tour X about a month ago, wondering why I hadn't purchased a rangefinder sooner! Extremely easy to use and very nice to know exact yardages smile

Thanks for the suggestion. Has it helped your scoring? Being a tight bugger and trying to save to buy my first house, didn't really want to spend more than around £250. So think that ones a bit on the high side. Does look the part though.

Just getting back in to golf after around 10 years away (odd game played during that time). Would be happy to play to 18 regularly

Had a round today and hit 9 pars and finished 14 over. That was with two tripple bogeys and not a single 1 putt. 4 over for the back nine even with some shambolic putting. Very pleased with that

I haven't had a chance to play too much with it but I definitely find myself pin high much more than before. I think the Bushnell Tour V3 is within your price range? Might be worth a look.

It's definitely part of my game i struggle with. I hit a lot of shots down the throat but with inconsistent distance. I.e one hole i'll be 10 yards past the flag, another hole i'll be 10 yards short of the green! Sounds like you play to a handicap that's a little lower but not massively dissimilar so I think may well have to take the plunge if it's helped you be hole high more..

Take a bow Mr Brian Harman.

Two holes in one in his final round at the PGA Barclays this evening.

Also surprised that it has happened twice before in PGA history.

Another round today, definitely got the bug again

First time I've played the course so was a bit tricky, a touch over 6000 yards off the yellows and par 70

Finished with an 87. 10 GIR, 40 putts and a 9 on one hole. My putting is so bad it's not even funny, 8 three putts had me a bit worked up. Just can't get a feel for distance/speed at all, some get nowhere near and others go racing past. Any tips to improve distance control?

Wow man, 8 3 putts is painful reading.

I'd look up Aimpoint Express, read some articles and they'll give you a good idea of how to read greens.

Try this drill to help your distance control mate. Get yourself 10 balls on the putting green and putt each one to the same flag on the green. Each time you get the ball within a set distance - i.e. a foot if you're putting from 15ft away, you can remove the ball. However, if you don't get the ball within a foot it counts as a penalty point. The aim of the game is to get the least amount of points possible, the game ends when you're out of balls. Play against someone who is better at putting than you are too. You won't like losing every time and you'll find yourself getting better because of it. Good luck!

Was looking through the many old golf clubs in me mum's garage (me dad was a big golfer and a frequent visitor to the local pro shop) and dug out one of these bad boys - a sand wedge designed by Phil Mickelson in the 90's. Beautiful thing and lies completely flat for the Mickelson special, so tempted to put it in the bag for the rest of summer - not got any issue with my current Nike SV 56 degree, but just look at it!

The tip that helped me most with distance control was to just vary the length of the backswing whilst feeling like I'm hitting each putt with the same force (i.e. accelerate the club at the same rate for all putts). It was then just a case of building up a kind of 'internal database' of desired distances and backswings. I now average about 1.9 putts per hole down from well over 2.

I try to imagine rolling the ball by hand to the hole. it's basically the same strength you need to hit it with the putter.

I'd go with the 60! My wedges lie completely flat as well - so versatile.

They look in good condition considering the age! Need to grab a vokey 50 or 52 next time I'm in the pro shop. That 110 yard gap in my bag is a killer!

Yep, I have a 50 degree wedge for 115 yard shots!
