Planning a USA trip in Sept 2015, quick question to you corvette owners how much boot space/back of seat space is their when the roof is down?

I can only comment on a C6 rather than a C7...

The good news is there's loads of space with the roof up, but the bad news is you lose a little under half the space with the roof down! In the "roof" section of the boot you can squeeze in a full-size cabin bag and couple of small soft bags, and in the main section of the boot you can fit in a couple of cabin bags, a couple of small soft bags and get a suit carrier or two on top.

I've never bothered trying to use the space behind the seats as there's not really space for anything beyond maybe a thin laptop bag...and that's only if you don't have the seat all the way back In theory you might think you can move the passenger seat forward to create some space, but they'd soon complain as the fuses in the footwell already rob some legroom - you might be able to convince them to have a small bag under their knees though.

This is what we fitted in our renter with the roof down. We could squash in a couple of small grocery bags in the boot as well as all of the pictured bags / beer. The roof was down permanently.

Minimal space behind the seats, Also, there were two small compartments in the boot that were about the size of a shoe box.
