Ultima Stalk Setup...
Discussion
Thanks to everyone who helped out with my earlier Engine thread.. I do appreciate it...
Now, I am looking for the 'easiest' idea for turn signal / lights / wiper stalks... I had read the Stickies with the MK4 wiring info, and the 2-3 other threads commonly linked for stalk discussion, but they all ended up confusing me even MORE!!
Simply put - which stalk do I buy, and how do I plug it in? I tried to understand the electrical drawings from the MK4 thread, but they made no sense to me (I know absolutely nothing about electronics)... Given that the factory Ultima has 7-8 switches for lights, wipers and turn signals, do they *just* need to be connected to the MK4/MK5/other wiper stalks in a certain order, or is there more to it (setting up additional relays, connections, etc) ??
And since many of those threads are 3-5 years old, are there any new vendors/places where I can buy 'plug and play' type stalks?
Thanks

When building I worried about the lack of stalks and struggling with the unconventional indicator layout. In the end I didn't bother with a stalk conversion. I did relocate the indicator switch down to the dash just above the gear knob and used a rotary switch ( here) which I find causes me no problem at all.
There does seem to be a lot of cost and/or effort involved in getting something working and looking good. For me it wouldn't have been worth it.

Already spoke with AB, they do not have anything available any more...
Fit normal switches for IVA and then use this or other wireless control from steering wheel. http://www.cartekmotorsport.com/STEERINGWHEELCONTR...

I think the guys at Autobionics found the work required to complete a set of indicator stalks very time consuming therefor making them costly. It is also the sort of job that would become a 'chore' rather than being a challenge or enjoyable.
I have a set of their stalks and they work very well.
This is, I am afraid, no help to the original poster.

Crikey, cost is cost, but so what if it's a chore a job is a job.I have a set of their stalks and they work very well.
