I got pulled for speeding in 2010, was told the fine would come to my UK address but never materialised. I recently got a letter through from the county court saying that I owed 600 odd dollars. Nice. I'll worry about it if/when I ever plan to return.
Don't assume they'll have forgotten all about it......

As I understand it there's no statute of limitations on speeding fines so I don't expect it will ever go away.

I have no idea what the original fine was, 3 mph over the limit. If I plan to go back I'll likely just figure it in to the cost of the holiday. If I'd have received the original fine I'd have just paid it to have it off my back, but assume the current amount is cumulative/failing to appear extra fines etc.

That is a whole group of several hotels isn't it?
Ceasars group has filed for bankruptcy, but not all of it's hotels are included (I looked into it as I'm planning on booking a week at the flamingo shortly!)

Been to Vegas twice a year for many years. No more than two nights each stay, for me that's enough!!!. Aria, nice modern etc, mandarin my favourite, was ballagio, they' went off a bit. If you have a car and get out of Vegas maybe 7 days would be ok. In fact I have my summer road trip planned in June and I have Vegas as a stopover , just for two nights again at the mandarin. Camping and hotels a great way to see the mid west, national parks under the stars! Southern Utah my favourate.

I have driven 120,000 miles in the usa. Got pulled twice, both times in Texas!!! First overtaking in a 60 open road doing 85, then 71 on a 70 . Both times a ticket stating no further action, but I do admit the rozzers are out and about a bit more in the last couple of years. A convertible camaro ss is asking for trouble though!! This summer., a ss convertible!

Booked our trip this weekend. Going for a week staying at the signature mgm. It's the first time iv'e come across this "resort Fee" thing. Is this common now across the states ? Its $32.50 per night at the MGM so its decent amount of money for a weeks stay.

In short, yes.

We have booked hotels for a 3 week road trip of Nevada and California (starting off in the very same Signature @ MGM) and it certainly seems the norm in the bigger cities like San Francisco, San Diego, Palm Springs etc.

Usually covers things you might expect to get in nicer establishments in the UK included in the rate, like parking, internet and some coffee in your room!

This link tells you what most of the hotels in Vegas charge by way of resort fees, and what it includes:

Yes - it's excellent. Great location and our room (we stayed in a corner suite) was lovely. I've stayed in Luxor, Caesars, Mirage, Harrahs too and Aria is a cut above all of those. Cosmopolitan, which is next door is also a very nice property. Aria was also lucky for me gambling wise so it gets an additional thumbs up on that front!

If you like breakfasts try the Red Velvet Pancakes at the Aria Cafe - very nice!

One more vote for the palazzo, I spent 10 nights there a couple of years ago, lovely rooms.

Noticed this today and have a look at my feedback if it helps you as I was in the same position. Just one thing that exotic racing have their own track where as the others borrow the speedway next door i think. Therefore exotic racing may be the better bet.

I'm looking at a couple of nights in Las Vegas as part of s road trip, but are struggling to decide on a hotel.

Budget wise Aria & The Bellagio are right at the top of our budget, but Wynn Encore/Paris Las Vegas are more suitably priced, but not too sure on location/quality respectively. The MGM Grand seems cheap, considering it is a famous hotel, is that because it is rubbish, or not on the strip?

Any comments on these hotels, or anywhere else we should be looking?

Wynn and encore are normally more expensive than aria and bellagio.

Wynn and encore are very nice properties, swanky and expensive. Although they are right down the far end of the strip, away from the main action in the centre.

MGM grand feels old and cheap compared to other resorts you mentioned, but then it is. It's also a little bit out of the way down the opposite end of the strip - but location isn't as bad as Wynn/encore.

Aria and bellagio are bang in the middle, both lovely places. Bellagio classic luxur with the awesome fountains. Aria half modern, nice but not exciting.

I'd seriously consider the Vdara. It's a little spa hotel tucked away behind Cosmo and between bellagio and aria. It's a MGM resort like the aria and bellagio so has typical great 5 star luxury. As its not your typical casino resort it's clean, fresh and very good VFM. It's also connected to the bellagio via a covered walkway, 5min walk from lobby to lobby. Aria's back door is a 100m walk from Vdaras lobby.

We had a city corner suite which was fantastic and had awesome bellagio fountain views, although their standard room is still very good and great VFM.

Have fun.

If you're on a road trip, try the M resort if you don't mind a shortish drive.

It's almost exactly 10miles down the strip (straight as a dye road) but is incredible for the money. Probably the nicest pool/spa area I've ever been to anywhere! The restaurants were awesome too

We stayed there for a couple of nights to get 'off strip' and would really recommend it

Easy drive to the centre of the strip and you can park at any hotel. The only issue is if you plan to drink when out for the night.

Pic from our room looking up to the strip at night (sorry, only a couple of pics on my iPad):

We looked at Vdara, but weren't convinced. Your post really helped though, we realised that being in the centre of the action is more important than a swanky hotel, so have booked a red room at the Paris, as per a recommendation earlier in the thread.

Don't undersell Paris, what you'll realise is that they are ALL swanky hotels - you will not be disappointed!! In the flesh Paris looks awesome and you walk out the front door right in the thick of it...

Try get a good strip/fountain view if you can - whilst you'll be out most of the time it's awesome just taking a shower overlooking the strip etc. If the upgrades are expensive then try the $20 trick - nothing to lose and often gets you a view.

We were the same with Vdara and weren't sold from looking on the web as its all very business/understated but we booked on a friends recommendation. It was the best choice we made, not only did we get an awesome room we also saved a few hundred pounds over a similar room elsewhere which we were able to splash on awesomeness around the rest of Vegas!

Enjoy! I can't wait to go back....

This was my view from Vdara, 48th floor. Not bad considering it worked out at £45 a night!!!

Stayed in encore few years ago. By far the most high end in vegas I would say.

Back in 6 weeks and staying at the Cosmo.

Stayed there back in 2012. Fantastic rooms and ideally located, just lacked a bit of the atmosphere of the other resorts.
Found Paris to be a bit of a dump when we stayed last year.
Luxor was surprisingly good and we got a room for £25.

Drank at Bond bar in Cosmo last time. Place certainly did not lack atmosphere. What makes you say that?

Wynn or Bellagio, loved Wynn but location of Bellagio is worth it but when we return will be Wynn.
