Hi,

I'm looking for something to race in HRDC, CSCC, etc. Saloon or sports car, MGB, Sebring Sprite, Elva, A35, A40, Abarth, Rapier, Imp, etc. etc. Maybe FIA APP K maybe not, don't mind some re commissioning, engine build, safety equipment, maybe some paint, or of course something that's on the button with all the papers, but not a ground up project or something that needs converting into a racer. I'm a private cash buyer and as such would rather deal with private individuals rather than going through the trade. If you have anything or any leads it would be appreciated..

You haven't given us an indication of budget but I'd have thought it was easier with classics to race something that has access to a good spares and knowledge supply, hence the reason why MGBs, Lotus Élan and Ford Escorts are so popular.. Possibly more expensive to buy in the first place but a lot easier to run in the longer term.

Less common but I do know of a "Swinging Sixties" Marcos Essex 3 litre that's for sale, all complete but needs re-assembling around a newly supplied wooden chassis if you are interested in that

I have a mate who is building an MGB GT to historic specs, full nut and bolt rebuild and all being done to a very high standard, full cage, harness, race seat, extinguisher etc.

Also would consider parting with my BMW E36 M3 EVO, track prepped to a high standard.

PM me if interested.

Hi Andy,

I like your car but it's a bit too much of a ground up project for me to take on. Fearsomely fast though I don't doubt...

I think an Alfa Giulietta TI Berlina would be quite a good car to run in the HRDC. Only a couple out there in HRDC, bit different plus I like Alfas having had a 105 coupe. Anybody know of anything? on the button or needing some re commissioning, don't mind really...

One like this although that was 18 months ago and no doubt I'd have to pay a bit more than that now:

Have you thought about a Lenham, Ashley or Sebring sprite? They run in Touring Greats and aren't too expensive.

FIA sprites aren't very competitive as they have to use a 948 engine with steel front and rear panels, a FIA sebring costs a fortune to build as they have to have an alloy front, rear and roof. You can run an archers replica in various series though and have some fun. I raced a frog eye for several years and can vouch for them being great fun little cars and quite inexpensive to run in racing terms although a series tuning is getting very expensive now.

see my old mate gordons web site
