Leaving the cuff tag on a suit jacket, or leaving the price tag hanging from the jacket button.

Is that council or cock?

Surely just forgetful? No one would leave a price tag on.

This is the thing that pisses me off with this place summed up in one sentence, this PH in-joke air of 'I can afford anything anytime, you, you're over there, you cant'

I'm sure some can, but I'm equally sure many people on here cant, and to use someone else's phrase that I liked, you cut your cloth accordingly. There's nothing wrong with that.

Looking down on people because they cant afford something you can is a bit ttty, moreso when it's said in some kind of distancing jest, and still more when the person saying it probably cant do anything anytime, and is saying it to somehow look cool and smug. Well, you look like a . Have a bit of humility.

It was intentional. Both the label on the cuff, and the tag hanging from the button. It wasn't just one person.

Maybe they're thinking of trying to take it back for a refund after the wedding/funeral/court appearance wink

My brother used to work on the front line in debt recovery for a leading high street bank. He said there was no "type" when it came to debt, the only common factor was it was never their fault that they has spent too much money. He said they were as likely to be Lawyers and accountants as anyone else.

Looking down ones nose in a condescending manner and sneering at those less fortunate than themselves is as crass and as 'council' as you can get. Just sit back and enjoy the irony! thumbup

Posting about your tax rebate on Facebook and how you're "buzzing".

I agree about ITV as well. It's ridiculously council.
Having friends that would be "buzzing" about a tax rebate and posting it to Facebook.

I do agree on ITV. I also like the phrase "ridiculously council" hehe
Haha, st! It's a brother of a friend, so I can't remove them.

Ok, another one - Facebook politics! Ffs I am council as fk.

I was travelling to Leeds on the train a while back, and somebody like this got on at Dewsbury (it's always Dewsbury). He was with a man and woman, who were most likely his parents. They looked like the Golightly family from Beadle's About. The lad was wearing a really cheap, ill-fitting suit, with the tags just how you describe. I've seen the cuff tag thing many a time, but never price tags. I'm guessing he was off to an interview or a court hearing and the suit was going back to Primark afterwards.

I've noticed that on a few occasions. I assume these individuals are the types that don't buy suits often (if ever) so simply don't know any better.

I suspect part of it is because this is a male dominated forum. Men are competitive so we're pretty keen to show off and demonstrate how 'good' we are.

I work in a very deprived area and many of the people I come into contact with on a daily basis are from council estates. A vast proportion of the suggestions on this thread have nothing to do with being 'council' and more to do with showing off and denigrating others. frown
