Coil pack question
Discussion
Car: MK4 VW Golf GTi 1.8T
Issue: Vehicle was mis-firing.
Resolution: Mechanic tested all coil packs and diagnosed that no.1 coil pack was failing - duly changed and issue solved.
Question: Should just the affected coil pack be changed or would it be prudent to change all four of them at the same time?
(Not doubting my mechanics ability as he is very good but just stumbled across a few internet forum posts which suggest all four should be changed).

Ive heard this before but cant see the reasoning behind it, why change a working part.
pre-empting failure down the road. But in a case like this, the failure will unlikely leave you stranded so isnt a major concern to try and pre-empt
And unless replacing with OEM parts, replacing old with new just for the sake of it isnt always a good idea !
