Well he clearly feels he has lost his argument on an open forum as he has clearly alienated many others here, so now he's sending me private messages via Pistonheads. I've not replied to his rather pointless message, as I am rather choosy who I reveal my email addresses to (I get enough junk mail without inviting more)! But I acknowledge receipt of his email here and will treat any further attempts to continue his childish dialogue here or with messages with the total contempt they deserve. Messages of course will be deleted unread.
Every now and then I read something of his with interest, it may be inciteful, knowledgeable, or genuinely helpful and I think 'maybe he's not that bad?'...

Then, (after saying he wasn't going to post until Feb) he decides to pick on you because of you've just joined, don't modify your cars and don't agree with every word he says?

The man (intentional or not) comes across as an utter tool and a spoilt brat of a teenager!

Most people on here are rather quite nice, helpful and appreciate thoughtful debate! smile

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do...

(I better delete my profile now in case he comes after me for not actually owning a Porsche! yet) rolleyes

Welcome to the PH Porsche forum. Worry not, you're in good company sir, he's done the same to me in the past, and my response mirrored yours precisely, I too chose not to respond to his ranting PM.

I can only apologise for this individuals behaviour, you're not the first to have had to tolerate it, and regrettably I doubt you'll be the last.

There are a lot of very polite, well informed, very knowledgeable and enthusiastic individuals on here, so please don't let this individual deter you from posting on the forum, we need more like you around here ! The more people that stand up to this individuals unbecoming behaviour, the better.

No need to apologise for him, and thank you for your support. Maybe it's myself that should apologise to the other posters here. I should have stopped the tennis match when I realised what I was dealing with.

Anyway, more than enough said, let's get this thread back on track - after all the GT4 promises to be one of the most exciting real world (whatever that means) cars Porsche have produced in recent years!

Yes we should have stopped the tennis match post, but even pages later and me not posting you are still going on an on, you should take note of my email.
like I said you 1st need to look at the plank of wood in your own eye not the splinter in mine, it's always a 2 way issue.

re read the thread and see who started with the aggressive posts (page 7), imo that was you, stating "Clearly I am dealing with an Internet "expert" here."
when you don't even know what cars I own or track !!!
, So I asked you in nice way which experts you took advice from and got this back from you

"No real point in continuing this debate. " when asked what advice you had got !!

yes after that I did state because you tow the Porsche line you must drive dull cars, but that was not aggressive was it ? it's a car enthusiast forum a hugh amount of people on "car enthusiast" forums will change out pads and geo to make the cars faster.

but your quote was quite crazy and now starting to get an aggressive tone.
"You are obviously even more knowledgeable about such things than the engineers in Zuffenhausen. Truly amazing."

Stating a car cannot be bettered from the factory set up which is just plain crazy comment to make imo.

my post back was
"That does not make me more knowledgeable than Porsche that I adjust my car, it means Porsche are forced to set the car up for idiots who would over steer off the road other wise."

so then you post a barrage of abuse directed at me
"I think he could well be Adrian Newey judging by his great knowledge..."

"Well you certainly try - in vain I might add - to convince everyone you are an expert"

"Well I'll tell you why I didn't join - to have to tolerate trolls such as you."

each one getting more aggressive, and personal !!

then the normal boys chime in who you will get to know who Troll the forums in a aggressive way "NIgt3" "Slippydiff " and some one else who did delete his post so I won,t mention him.

funny place forums, we should be able to get on and I will say sorry if I offended you (just did :-) ) , I have been a member here for 13 years and yes not every one gets my direct way of posting and out of 80,000 members I don't get on with a hand full, but it is only a hand full, Not long ago I said I would leave and did a poll on here to say if you guys vote me off I WILL leave, the poll fell in my favour to stay.

So here I am, non aggressive, a true car nut who likes to mod his cars to make them better but I do post in a direct way you will get used too, but they are only my personal opinions, they are not personal or attacks you will find, some people do read my opinions as "fact" but that's not my issue :-)

I will ask you to back up you quotes in future , which is how this rift started if you look back which you failed to do, which does annoy me if people don't back up what they 1st post.

So I will say sorry again, lets start off new see what happens.

Accepted. Maybe our enthusiasm for cars gets in the way of a good discussion at times. Dispute parked and forgotten about. Let's move on.

Thing is David, your internet persona is quite different to your real life one - you're actually ok in real life.

You just need to stop with the 'your car is dull / crap' etc. - that's somebody's p&j and they may have had to work bloody hard to get it.

I know we have had our little spats on here, but like a game of rugby - the punch ups happen on the pitch, everywhere else is back to normal.

You want to discuss a car thats forthcoming and that nobody has any details about without going off topic? Are you mad?

In fairness there isn't much to discuss about the GT4, at the moment all is conjecture until the full details are announced. There will be plenty to talk about then.

No aggressive trolling on my part. I was merely informing a new contributor that he needs to stand his ground or better still ignore your more forthright posts.

But you're correct, forums are indeed interesting places. And perhaps if you'd taken the opportunity to eat some humble pie and dare I say it, apologise to numerous contributors to this forum in the past, for your forthright and often downright rude responses (as you have done to dreamcar) this place could/would generally be more harmonious.

But enough of that. I think we both need to congratulate each other, I've made a point of ignoring your posts over the past month. Not difficult, as I find ANY thread with "prospective owners" in the title utterly tedious (and it was only the fact that someone brought this thread to my attention last night, that I felt duty bound to respond) But you also appear to have done the same with ignoring GT3 threads. I say long may it continue.

I'm honoured that you mentioned me in one of your rants or sorry posts, but the simple fact is your extremely rude to people who don't share your views, and also come across as an arrogant prick with your responses. I think the best thing for everybody, would be for you to read every post you write back to yourself and then the penny might actually drop, if this does't work then maybe do what you threatened before, get the police involved wobble

I'll move things on!

The posted unladen weight for the GT4 is either wrong or quite worrying. What's the point if it's going to be the same weight as the usual 981?

A more powerful engine? I can't get too excited about that - 320 to 385 isn't a huge jump, and the bigger lump might well be less fun to ring out. Better to have taken the 3.4 to its absolute maximum (say 350) and got the weight down a bit.

Porsche already has fairly heavy and technically impressive sports/GT cars. I hoped the GT4 would be a little bit of a throwback to a high-revving engine in a lighter car. Looks more like a bargain basement 991 GT3.

(Some of the above may be a bit of devils advocacy, but I am genuinely a bit saddened by the weight.)
