Tips for Gainesville!
Discussion
Get tickets to the Top Eliminator Club. Hopefully you have booked your flights by now as all the flights to Tampa and MCO get very busy. Then try to stay near the track. Book your motel soon as you can. If you have time go to the Garlits Museum which isn't far away. Will see you there..

What Geoff says.
People sometimes complain that Top Eliminator Club is too expensive($360 this year, covers all four days) but I think it offers terrific value in top-line motorsport terms. If you don't agree, check out Paddock Club prices at any F1 Grand Prix. But all Gainesville seating is good.
NHRA seems this year to have replaced its excellent interactive seating chart, from which you can select your own seats, with a system that selects for you and doesn't currently allow you choice. They have only just opened booking so maybe will fix it if they get complaints over the weekend.
Gainesville motel/hotel prices rise significantly over Gatornationals weekend. If you are on a budget and don't mind an hour's drive (easy enough on Florida roads), worth looking north at Lake City or south at Ocala, where prices tend to remain standard.
And yes, the Don Garlits Museum Of Drag Racing alongside I-75 just south of Ocala is not to be missed. If you are driving north up I-75 from either Tampa or Orlando airports, you'll pass it on the right.

My tip would be:
The elim club is good and the seats *opposite* A, B, etc. are best value. They are/were called AA, BB etc. and they're just about as good as the Eliminator Club.
Check out the seat plan, then Google satellite view and you'll see what I mean.
I hope this is not out of date : I've tried various seat options but work has prevented a recent trip.
