Yes, I know its a lot for an old Audi and yes I know it won't be that exciting to drive......

Yes, like.

But the interior is a bit challenging!

What's wrong with it? Proper quality unlike this soft touch with coloured lights nonsense Audi do now that is pretty but worse than ford in terms of doing a job for many years.

It's not original trim.

Talk to me Loon. Any good? And what on earth is WVTA?

ETA: So it's Whole Vehicle Type Approval. How do these differ from the regular models?

EFTA: I'll answer my own question. hehe

Lotus Beards said:
The first 50 Sport 160 cars have undergone Single Vehicle type Approval (SVA) testing, and are factory built with catalytic converters and 'Sport' exhaust to produce 160PS @ 7000 rpm and 178Nm torque @ 5000 rpm. Subsequent cars are Whole Vehicle Type Approved (WVTA) and are factory built with catalytic onverters, 111S exhausts and dual intake air cleaner/muffler assemblies to produce approx. 150 PS. These cars may be readily converted to 160 PS specification by carrying out an intake airbox modification, and fitting the 'sport' exhaust.

It's sitting outside the flatartment as I type this if that answers your question hehe

One of the most lively and characterful Elise variants. Quick enough to be fun (think entry level Caterham) and they sound and look fantastic. Lumpy idle is a pita in traffic though!

From memory, SVA cars are a lot harder or impossible to import into Europe (so you don't have to compete with European buyers if you are looking at a SVA car). Then again, not sure if there is still European demand for UK Elises like there was a few years ago.

I look at Elises and can't help but think I'd rather have a VX220 for a good bit cheaper.

I almost bought a totally standard black Fiesta RS back in the late 90's.

Wow - somebody has put a lot of time and energy into that - the wheels aren't to my taste, but it certainly looks like it's all been done well. 212bhp sounds like a lot of power for a little thing too.

ETA looking at the pics again I really love the glossy paintwork

Wow - that looks good and that didn't come up in my Elise searches a couple of weeks ago. I like the Sport 190 S2 you've got, too, Loon - looks like an awesome car.

By the way, the dealer has gone quiet on that Cat D elise 160 from a few pages back. As time passes, I'm also starting to think that if I go down the Elise route, a good 160 is the way to go, so I think I've mentally moved on from the cat D "bargain".

Our immediate car concerns are over our daily FFRR - dealer cock-up has led to a new engine, then a new steering rack (thankfully £ all picked up by the LR main dealer) and it's just been back as the electronics are now doing something weird on start-up (possibly fixed by a new battery) - this is all leading Mrs rejn to take the view that we need a new one... That may be the end of the Elise budget for me. frown

This BTW is not the other...

However, if one likes a darker hued car and I know that I do, I would be currently mooning over this

Would issues like this with (I'm assuming) a pretty new, high end and expensive vehicle put you off buying another? smile

I think it would me.
