fk me! That's a steal, congratulations. They are brilliant cars. Apart from one rusty wing, mine is nigh-on perfect at 212,000 miles. I love driving it.
I don't understand the prices. I didn't pay a lot for mine either. They are mega and I love driving it.
I think I got a total bargain, most on here think you got a bargain, so what are they worth. £1500? £2000? There was the golfer owned, sub 100,000mile example up at £4995 and also the bonkers E320 up at £7250!!
Orrrrrr are we the mad ones that are out of touch buying slightly rusty, 200,000+ mile tanks.

Not really motor related, but we p/x'd our sleep for one of these a couple of weeks ago.
Also got one of these for baby duty (library pic - a 1.6 not a GTI), swapping my Wife's favoured Ka. Our first VW, and quite happy with it. 2005, 35K, genuine one lady owner and clean as a clean thing. If we get on with it, I could imagine a Mk6/7 GTI somewhere down the line.

I don't know where I see W124 TE prices really.
I know with mine I'll end up putting a few bob into it, though not a lot. The rally car is about to eat a wedge and the daily E39 needs a tickle with thrust arm bushes and a bit of bodywork.
I think something like mine spruced up may be worth up to a couple of grand in a few years but not a lot more.
Just been offered a set of minty mint 8 hole alloys for it for a good price and know it would make it look well swank. Tempting.

I'd love a 155 2.0 Sports Pack (widebody) if you can find me one Woodster
Tougher than I thought. But I'm trying to remember the last time I saw a 155 in the UK and perhaps it's not so surprising. How about this instead:ETA

My mate had one of these when they were first launched - exactly the same as this one. Looks like a decent punt for 3000. I found the TC a bit too nanny state but with it off the car drove well.W00DY said:

re: GTV - how usable are those back seats? Would small kids fit in them ok?
Oh - and news on my recently acquired integrale - the expert has looked over it and declared me "lucky" - nothing significant wrong with the car - just a full service, belts change and a few minor bits needed. Can't wait to get it back and take it for a decent drive!

Thanks gents. With the exception of Audi (pah!) I've now got the set; Benz, Pork, Beemz.
The car is now on t'drive.
Price paid: £750.
Needs a tickle here and there. 191k with Merc dealer history to 180k, MOT to mid August, half a tank of 99RON.
Reckon I'll chuck a quick £200 at it and then smoke around like Princess Diana's secret boyfriend.
Pics tomorrow.

well done! We had a baby and a mk5 GTI for a while - it was a good combo - just about enough room, despite mrs rejn's need to take everything everywhere. Also got one of these for baby duty (library pic - a 1.6 not a GTI), swapping my Wife's favoured Ka. On the Golf, open the front doors as wide as they can and clear out all the crud at the bottom of the A-pillars.
Ours seems to gather all sorts in there and it would be a nasty place to sort any corrosion out.
