Is it any good or would an actual trackday be better?

The PDE dates are all on bank holidays which would suit me much better than during the week when all the trackdays seem to be on.

There is a trackday weekend 21st and 22nd March with BaT.

Spa is too good not to spend a decent amount of time trying to master it.

Handy to know, the public driving day seemed like a shed load of money for not a lot of track time and they imply it is a bit of a procession, although I am sure it is not.

I hope to do it soon as it is a Mecca for me smile

Spa published the full calendar a while back here, there doesn't appear to any gaps left for additional dates.

You've got a choice of Javlin, BaT, Circuitdays, Goldtrack, RMA and LoT.

Thanks for the link. Didn't realise it's been booked up for the whole year already!

Looks like 14th Nov is the only feasible date for me... is that going to be cold and wet?

Who can tell, it is spa.

Been in April and it snowed, May and heavy rain and fog one day the next was lovely.

A bunch I know we're there in October and had great weather.

It really is impossible to say, no one month is typically drier or wetter than another but one thing you can say is that it probably won't be hot.

14/11 is a Bookatrack day as is the 13/11 but November isn't he best month as you can imagine. Rainfall is more or less the same every month at Spa but you have snow and ice in November as well.

Don't forget you also have Skylimits, Curbstone, RSR, Pistenclub and many moe to choose from as well as the normal UK TDOs.

We've been going to Spa in November for 6-7 years now and have never once had any snow or ice in November.

The rainiest days we've ever have were in July.

We did lose a day to snow in March a couple of years back, but the year before that it was 20°C+ both days.

Spa weather is an absolute lottery.

Thanks Jonny, pretty tempted to book but it's a bit far in advance to know what I'll be doing in Nov!

What's Spa like on the tyres and brakes?
I wore out half my brake pads (according to the computer) after 4 laps at the Ring...

Depends on the weight of the car, style of driving and pad material but if you've done half a set in 4 laps of the ring I'd be packing some spare pads for a full day at Spa!

We have mechanics on-site who can help you change the pads but we don't stock them so you would need to bring them with you.

Indeed, this was in July but it didn't rain a drop on the track.

Didn't even realise there was lightning until I looked at the footage.

I instructed on a PDE day last summer, and to be honnest it was really well run with no processional sessions other than the out laps. There was some very big speed differences out on track and i think probably only about one closure but being Spa it was minimal.

Any views on RSR at Spa? Professionally looking website but a little intimidating.

Also curious as to what "Porsche Driving" on the Spa timetable refers to. Google wasn't much help.

I instruct for RSR as does TerenceB on here. A very well established company that was founded by Ron Simons, a very well respected former porsche and Alfa works driver/test driver. We have a great selection of cars to cater for all abilities. Originally based at Nurburg from where Ron started his rental/coaching services with the Alfa 75 experience. Ron has probably the greatest wealth of knowledge of Spa and Nurburgring to share with his clients. He is passionate for his clients to have a great time on track. We are also the official rental partner for Spa Francorchamp, feel free to call or contact our office if you have any questions.
This is what we do...

"Porsche Driving" entries are days booked by Porsche for their corporate/customer programme. If you own a Porsche speak to your local OPC to find out how to access them and the fee. Ditto the other entries with a manufacturers name e.g. Audi, AMG, Renault and Mitsubishi etc

Doogalman and myself instructed at last years Porsche Day, strict driving codes but why do anything other than drive properly?
Very courteous driving but no hanging back, some very high speeds being achieved. Very well run, if they weren't-RSR would not have been there.
For those who have not done Spa before, be prepared to be disappointed,(with any UK circuit after you have learnt and driven the other Best circuit in the world.)

Thanks for the collective feedback, the Track Day section of PH is always excellent.

I guess my concern when looking at the RSR website is that they allow passing on both sides and coming into corners, and I get why people like that but as a relative newcomer it put me off a bit (especially as the site looks like it appeals to race cars etc).
