Finally after 144,000 miles the S6 in my Sag has demonstrated low compression and is off at Dom's

On top of a standard rebuild we need new liners, exhaust valve seats - waterpump rebuild, flywheel, and a clutch ( which had done 77000)

Big bills never come when you expect them - I was aiming for 150K

Bugger

Sure he'll do a good job

Still a good effort.

Best engine I had was on one of my Subaru Legacy's - 245k so far and still going strong.

Wow!

That was very impressive to read. I see you bought the car at 100k... out of pure curiosity, was it one owner who did all that mileage? Was he awarded a medal for being totally awesome?

Mis read I think AOK - I bought the car at 10K and I've done 134K in it

Driving it makes me feel young and reminds me of the good times ( bit miserable as the big 60 approaches with a large bill to go with the birthday cards!)

In which case... I bow down to you sir! bow

although sorry to hear about the bill frown it will feel great once done though!

PS the reason I thought it was someone else is because in your 'My Garage' section it says "Bought in March 2007 for £33,995 with 100,000 miles"

So what re-build will you be going for 4.3 or 4.5??

Standard 4 ltr rebuild - the car was one of the first 20 dealer demos so I want to keep it as original as I can, of course if Dom feels generous and rebuilds it as a top hat 4.7 - I won't know....

I was bit hacked off that the first one went at 67,000 and this one had not failed or shown signs of failing, must be mechanically sympathetic...

That's the plan - I just need a few more people to come on tour to make the pain a bit less!

very low on two cylinders James - if you want the numbers ask Adrian at Central - they diagnosed its deadness!

Just shows how well these engines last if you keep them below 4000 rpm wink
