Does Anybody know what signal the water temp gauge in a 2000 k series expects to see?
When we did the vvc conversion we ended up with the boss from the donor car which was a different size to the caterham temp sensor, so ended up using the donor sensor, this goes into the red zone within a few minutes of start up, so I need to source a sensor with the donor vehicle thread size and the same signal as the caterham sensor.
Any ideas?
Thanks

It'll be a variable resistance. The gauge will supply it a voltage which it connects to earth. At lower temps the resistance will be higher, lower current will pass and the meter will move less (and show the lower temp).

Similar to the spec here:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1-8-NPT-Oil-Water-TEMPER...

But all this is useless to you as I do not know the answer you seek! If noone here knows, you could try Caterham or perhaps as a long shot Thinkauto or maybe even Dave K at Demon Tweeks.

You will need to fit the Caterham water rail. This has the threaded hole for the correct sensor.

Yes I know, that's why I am trying to find a sensor with the correct signal and thread size, to avoid having to change the rail (which was out of stock when we were doing teh head change)
