Giblets Sheddy MK1 Eunos
Discussion
Unfortuanetly i just deleted a week or so ago a whole bunch of photos i took when i tried to remove a bodykit on an MX5.
The sideskirts look identical. It was a fkin nightmare. Real mess. Whats the point if you're going to use it then strip it ? Leave as is.
The front could have been the same too. The lower part of the bumper is bonded on again. The indicator holes on the original bumper are cut out and made bigger so the new indicators on the lower part recess into them. Therefore the original bumper is fked !!
But you're OK. Lady luck is shining on you. It looks like you have a normal rear bumper !!

Having looked at it again the front is different. As mine was an import it had side reflectors on the lower part of the bumper and it was those which were cut out to make bigger.
And yes, it will be a bit of a st to remove because all the nuts and bolts will be rusty and seized and are awkard to get to unless you know exactly where they are !!
Have fun !!

If the sills are shot when you get the kit off, I'm only down the M1 if you want a hand sorting any welding, just done ours, they're not a terrible job, just a bit time consuming, but that does mean most places will charge you more than you paid for your shed, sorry, Mazda

Nice work on the sills. When I had both sides on my old mk1 done by a garage last year it came to £380 (in West Midlands). Was a top quality job. They didn't do paintwork though, so was left with nice black stonechip patches!Edited by PhillipM on Tuesday 27th January 18:09
I've made this mistake TWICE! Bought a nice looking shiny blue Eunos from my cousin for £500, got sick of it after a few months so moved it on again. Then the need for a winter car arose again & someone I knew was selling a black Eunos so I bought that for £600 - got about 4 miles up the road and it boiled itself. So even though it may look rough, it could be worse!!
I know people rave about these things but the ones I had were horrible to drive and didn't even handle particularly well either. I'll never have another one so instead for this winter I opted to go for a much more sensible, reliable machine - Alfa 156
Now people do mock the fact I bought an Alfa as a backup for a TVR as you can imagine, but it's 2002 2.4 JTD & I paid £50 more for it than my last Eunos & it's immaculate. Full leather, dual climate, cruise, 12 months MOT etc etc etc. It's even got a bloody BOSE sound system in it!! So that's my tip for the future if you want a cheap run around, & take it from me they are brilliant winter cars!

So to summarise, if someone is looking for a 2-seater convertible you'd recommend a diesel saloon?R7EBO said:

The ones people rave about aren't the ones worth £500/£600 I know people rave about these things but the ones I had were horrible to drive and didn't even handle particularly well either. Loads of this on the forums now that the 'kids' and ex-dubbers have cottoned on to them.
" OMG I bought a eunos roadsterrr for £400, I've welded the diff and cut the coil springs off, it handles like st and can't get into works car park, its slow, its filled with water and steamed up and now its failed its MOT because its full of holes where I've scraped it along the kerb. I thought these were supposed to be good, my polo was more fun durrrr"

And my cousin who now owns it had it valued at £4000 once the paintwork had been sorted out. So no it isn't a £400 special and yes I still thought it was horrible to drive.
Please don't speak to me like a school kid who doesn't know what they are talking about, I have had a lot of different cars over the years, some of which specialist and others very much not so! I was merely sharing my opinion and advising (from my own experience) on a good choice for a cheap temporary run about as stated in the very first line of this thread.

Hardly sounds like the ultimate in reliability to me. At least when the MX5 is working it's a fun 2-seater convertible. They might be a bit slow but they are fun and a good car for its age.

I thought the whole point in these forums is for people to share advice and views, so why people feel the need to attempt to rip apart peoples views and comments on these things is beyond me. What's so wrong about offering advice from experience??
You may or may not believe that the MX5 is the greatest car on earth, I don't really care but if that is your opinion then that's fine, & I wouldn't start giving you stick for it! I have no interest in getting into a slanging match with you or an MX5 owners club, I was simply sharing my experience.
Maybe I was unlucky, who knows? I'm sure some of them must be good or there wouldn't be a following and they would have disappeared from the roads by now. BUT from MY OWN experience, they were rubbish and I wouldn't buy another one, it's as simple as that. There's still no need to take the ps is there?
