My S1 Elise has been off the road for a while. Whose currently the best for servicing and repairs around Manchester. I'd prefer someone who could come and pick the car up on a trailer. Thanks

Chris Neils (Oakmere now I think) are official Lotus dealers based in Northwich. Alternatively, Phoenix Motorsports, Accrington - very, very well respected Lotus specialist.

Can't imagine it would be cheap for either to collect though

Used Ollie before (Phoenix) but it's a bit of a trek for me if (especially if I need to leave the car) so I recently tried Blink motorsport in Winsford and was very happy with their approach and service, so will definitely be going back. http://www.blinkmotorsport.com/index.html

Thanks for the suggestions.

Next question is what will need doing. It had a cam belt change and c service about 3 years ago and has been dry garaged ever since. I'm thinking that getting the same done again might be a good idea?

If you can put the car in neutral and rotate the crank or maybe put it in 1st gear and push it just to make sure nothing is seized. If its not just start it up and drive it. Might need some tyres, new oil and fluids would be a good idea. No reason the belts would need doing again. 3 years is not to long a lay up.

In addition to the above-disconnect the crank sensor and spin the engine over on the starter only. This will help circulate some oil around the engine prior to starting.

You may find it slightly difficult to start as the oil will have drained off the tappets. May take quite a bit of spinning over.
