Sick of flat battery, so bought one to try. It's not detecting the battery via the cigar lighter.... I was presuming its a permanent live, since so many people have them. Am I wrong?

I just hard wired a connector into the loom when I was sorting out the birds nest of wires under the dash but in answer to your question yes, my cig lighter is not a switched 12v supply, it's on all the time.

Plug something in with the ignition off does it work? If not switch on the ignition and try again. If you still have nothing then there is a problem that needs investigating. I found something metallic stuck in the lighter socket that stopped mine working & kept blowing the fuse every time I tried to use it

The lighter socket on my Sagaris is permanently live and I use one of these trickle chargers successfully.

The Cigar lighter feed "should" be permanently live and also supplies the boot solenoid (both have the same fuse)!!

Ah, well there you go then JRH63. You have a fault with your socket.

Or else whoever built your Tamora didn't feel like wiring it up the same way as the others that day, and drew a cock on the bare fibreglass instead. smile

(And you think I'm joking)

Had similar problem with mine (T350) checked fuses and had one blown and another looked to be in poor condition so changed em and now it works fine again.

Mine was wired up right but rather than a cock I have what appears to be a pair of legs topping out round the gear stick hole.....

Thanks for all the replies, turned out to be easy. If the battery voltage is too low, the ctek charger will not find the battery. I stuck my jump pack into the Anderson conector, and hey presto!!!!!!
The ctek got the battery up to starting voltage pretty sharpish, and the cig lighter lead has a battery condition indicator in it, so it's easy to tell what's going on.
Car is due to go back to Doms for its 1k check up after the rebuild.... At least it now starts))))))
