According to the description this does NOT fit an S (although the correct gear pattern).

Can it be made to fit a V6 S or if not can anyone suggest an similar one that will fit?

When I bought my V8S (with LT77 gearbox same as early Griff/Chim) from Hawthorns I asked for an alloy gear knob instead of the wooden one. This was included in the sale but alas the car arrived still with wooden one. grumpy

So persued and eventually they supplied the only thing they said they could get from TVR back in 1997, which as it turned was one for a T5 (later Griff/Chim) box.

So it had the wrong pattern and the threaded hole was way too large. banghead

Well that wasn't gonna stop me. scratchchin

So polished off the markings and through the paint back to bare metal and buffed up to a full natual alloy shine. cool

Then set about making a threaded sleeve....IIRC it was 12mm outside and 5/16" UNC inside....job done. bow

Gets quite warm after a few miles.....so if you like a warm knob.......getmecoat

Somebody on here was making them a year or so ago with the V6 gearbox pattern on them and the correct thread, I bought one. Looks fantastic! (Much better than the rubber Sierra one!) Only problem is it faces the wrong way silly Need to stuff something in the thread to sort it!

Don't bother with the universal ones with a grub screw, it will vibrate out and leave you grabbing a handful of nothing (ask me how I know wink )

Agreed, the grub screw ones tend to come loose.
If a screw on one faces the wrong way then just keep wrapping it with PTFE tape until it tightents up the right way!

Isn't the S gear linkage just a bit of bent flat plate with a bar welded to it?

Cut off the bar weld in a thicker one with the right thread.

Bit of the proverbial sledgehammer to crack a nut?
I've pm'd the guy who had a batch of the correct knobs made in 2012

This is what I did when I extended the gear lever with a nice stainless steel rod.

Hi,
I bought the one from Racetech for my V8S and e-mailed them first about fitment. They provided a threaded insert which fit perfectly. I was impressed by their service.

I had a custom one made up (obviously more expensive than off the shelf - but surprisingly reasonable) which I'm very happy with.

It might be worth trying a few local machining shops as an aluminium gear knob very simple for them. Especially if they are suffering a quite spell, they'd probably be delighted to have a nice little job to do.

I got this off Lee Gascoyne who did a few at the time - correct thread inside too.

I know him so could put you in touch in case he's any left or might run another up?
