I remember him because I ran his car for a few races and we were good friends so I was pleased to read the above article.

Sorry if this comes across as a bit self indulgent but I'd genuinely like to hear if anyone else remembers him.

Such a sad story and all too common back then.

A bit before my time unfortunately. Sounds like my kind of driver.

I remember him well, I was competing in the FF2000 championship in '85.

A sad story. Was he any relative of Teo Fabi who I remember from F1 in the early 80s?

Stewart,

No he wasn't a relative of Teo Fabi.

I didn't ever meet him but saw him race many times ; another tragic loss which makes you think 'what if ? '. Further back still- to 70s - we lost three great drivers - Williamson , Pryce and Brise and I remain convinced that they all would have been GP winners and one of them - Brise- would have been world champion if the cards had fallen right. They all got to F1 - just- but poor old Bert was still in F3 wasn't he ?

He was testing, with WSR at Goodwood, for his first season in F3 when he died.

To give you an idea just how good he was, he went to Mondello for the first time and lowered Martin Donnellys lap record by over a second.

that would have been Corrado Fabi. Who actually shared a Brabham F1 drive with Teo for one season... not sure they could have such an arrangement nowdays.

I saw him in FF2000 BITD and was sad that he was killed and never realised obvious potential.

Oh yes- I bought it when it came out ; motorsport books are rarely very well written but this is the exception. Have to confess I had 'something in my eye ' more than once when reading this -especially about Roger Williamson, from whose loss I don't think Tom Wheatcroft ever quite recovered .
