speeding in excess of 100mph
Discussion
hi/ can anyone advise what the outcome is likely to be as ive been stopped on the A1 peterborough area doing speed of 100mph im due in court next month,im obviously pleading guilty but what im i looking at can anyone help, and do i need a solicitor to represent me and do i return my guilt by writing or i should go to court..
Were you on the 4 lane section? People should be very careful there lots of unmarked bib on there.
3.6V6 Skoda superb is their usual choice.
You need a solicitor, my experience with this was to prove extreme hardship (but that was on the tot up not 100+) I got off and kept my licence.

Go to court and don't bother with a solicitor, that just winds up the magistrates. Wear a suit and be very sorry. Don't even bother with an excuse as there aren't any. You will be in the st if you say something like, 'I just didn't notice the speed build up', etc etc.
When asked if there is anything they should take into consideration, lay it on thick, with 'my family need me as I am the only bread winner', etc etc and then look very sombre.
Worked a treat for me and got me a 21 day ban and I was going a boat load faster than a 100 !

they can consider a ban, otherwise 6 points.

admit it, say sorry, plead hardship.

That's just what I did. Held my hands up and apologised without trying to make excuses. I also had a letter from my boss saying in the event of a long ban my employment would in jeopardy (totally true). When asked if there is anything they should take into consideration, lay it on thick, with 'my family need me as I am the only bread winner', etc etc and then look very sombre.

Walked out with six points, a major bking from the magistrate and a big fine. (Was caught well over 100)
The problem with solicitors: good one cost loads, so even if you get a short ban or small fine, will cost loads. Bad ones cost, and then you get caned anyway. My advice is own up, admit guilt fast (unless doubt of identity possible) and plead that your family need you to drive in order to live.
However if doubt of driver ID in question, you may have a way out.... Best thing is to have mitigating circumstances. I genuinely had one when my car had an electrical fault. I have a photo of the speedo reading 160mph in my firms car park! Also 10000rpm. When parked. So I drove home carefully, incase it was misreading. You may have had similar. Electrical faults are common. Your speedo may have been reading wrongly.

Happened to me. 103 on the motorway at midnight. Fair enough, take the thrill, pay the bill.
Suit on, contrition turned up to 11, apologised profusely, made many, many noises about taking responsibility & walked out with a two week ban & a £75 quid fine and oddly, no points, as they forgot to endorse my licence. I did in fact take it seriously as in I cooled my boots in the car from then on, but there is a right way to play it in court & that is to mitigate your fate by adjusting your attitude.

hardship is only if someone other than the driver will suffer and then if its exceptional hardship.
Some jps are better on it than others and its seems to be up to them to decide how much they take that into account. I had a jp in the family and his attitude to 100mph drivers was very harsh he wanted a 6 month ban for totting up for me.
On the other hand if I mugged 90 year ladies leaving them bruised in the gutter you needed help for a dodgy upbringing andconditi
I got 21 day ban and £150 fine. Under exceptional hardship I also had a report from work saying I was good at my job they needed me and 6 month would me they had to get rid of me etc.
