RE: £100K Garage: Darren Batt
Discussion
Cheers for all the comments chaps, it was fun to put together! The maths did get a bit out of kilter along the way but I think it all works out in the end. On the DB7/DB9 front I just really like the "slippery" looking styling of the old 'un, obviously the DB9 is still a looker! I could probably have gone for a few other choices for an economical/slightly sporty diesel but the vRS is a slight guilty pleasure I suppose, just think they are cool for some reason!
I like the fact the garage covers nearly all the cylinder counts - you could drop one of the 4 cylinder cars for a Straight 6 BMW (E36 or E46), a Volvo 5 cylinder (with a turbo) and how about a 3 cylinder (the new base Caterham or an interesting Far Eastern hatch).
I still want a Fabia VRS SE - Its the first Skoda I wanted to own (I now own a Fabia Monte Carlo & its all down to that car), you can't beat Race Blue and the leather chairs look so much better than the weird white & black seats the standard ones came with.

Everytime one of these gets posted I've thought about trying to do a garage featuring a 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 and 12 cylinder car, but haven't got round to actually sitting down and doing it. Not sure I'd be able to afford all of them, the choices for 10 and 12 are probably fairly pricey.

Top draw on the Cossie! Managing numbers is your thing though isn't it?!Turbobanana said:
Fail.
You've missed out the obligatory (delete as appropriate: Audi / Mercedes / BMW) large estate with unfeasably powerful engine as the practical daily.
Great garage, one of the best yet
This is exactly why I love this list compared to the last few which have been pretty poor tbh. A fast estate, when you just HAVE to transport your wife\kids\dog\bike\crap very quickly. You do realise you're on Pistonheads right? A V10 Left-hooker with enough space for a family of 6 and several bull mastiffs seems like a perfectly reasonable daily.TheAllSeeingPie said:

I just don't understand the reasoning behind a "fast estate". If you have family\kids or a dog in the car, you aren't going to be driving fast for fear of either causing them some mischief or more likely getting an earful from the missus. When my family is in the car, I drive like I'm driving Miss Daisy so where does the fast in the fast estate come into it?And I must be doing it wrong as when I am on my own, I never have to carry around so much crap that a small car just won't do and I need the extra space of an estate so again why a fast estate when I could be in something a lot more fun and suited to the purpose of going fast?
I can sort of see the point if it's your only car and it has to do EVERYTHING but as part of a multi car garage where you can have a cheap load lugger (if you must) and a fast fun car, I just don't see how fast and estate end up as the choice people seem to want to spend most of their money on.
Fair play to the OP for actually doing something interesting and original with his fictional £100k.

I agree with you 100%! Which is why I was insinuating the mental pickup truck was as sensible as an E63/RS6 for a kids & dog wagon Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
