My son managed to drop one of his sister's Top Trumps down the gap between the floor boards. We can see it with a torch, and I've tried poking some paper with sellotape attached through the gap but ended up pushing it further away.

Does anyone have any intelligent ideas (without lifting the floorboards) for getting it back?

No lifting of the floorboards required.

Try using your hoover and the sellotape together.

You need to speak to Dynamo.

I have something similar to this - might work depending on how wide the gap is.

Do the children have any small animals as pets?

Can just see OP's next post, "how do I retrieve a playing card and a hamster from under the floor?"

Hoover with a straw on the end to fit through the hole, suck it up to the gap and then grab it with tweezers to turn it and pull it through.

Can't you simply dig a tunnel under the house?

Cut a round hole (hole cutter) in the floor board, then you can stick your sons hand down there?

Pictures needed really OP so we can assist in formulating a comprehensive plan. I mean are we talking fine oak here or MDF?

This. Dynamo can do anything...I saw him pass a playing card through a plate glass shop window once, and walk on the River Thames.....
