While you are working on the solution be sure to tell your kids just to wish for it to come out. Then when you retrieve it, their wishes will have come true.

No pressure.

Have you tried using the power of positive thinking to 'will' the card back up?

Another idea: pair of knitting needles. Put them through the gap, try and grab the card between them and then lift out.

Carefully and precisely drop a piece of asbestos cloth through the floor boards and on to the card making sure it is entirely covered. Next clear your family and any sentimental possessions from your house. Next liberally douse the floorboards with petrol. Finally raze your house to the ground. The subsequent insurance claim and purchase of new house would be less hassle than attempting some of the suggestions already posted. You don't need to thank me for this advice. thumbup

I guess the simplest solution would be to go back time in time, purchase a carpet and have it fitted to said room. Very simply put, the carpet will stop the card going through the floor and also be far more comfortable to walk on. Very simple.

If you live in a flat , turn all your taps on then nip down stairs when their ceilings collapse, offer your sincere apologies while placing your foot on the offending card and tell them your just going to check you renewed your insurance

Use a razor on the end of a stick to cut the card into little pieces then suck up the pieces with your hoover. Empty the pieces onto the floor and your kids now have a fascinating jigsaw to play with as well as the card back once they've finished the jigsaw.

No, the serious answer is you just tell the kid the card is lost and can't be retrieved and marvel at how she completely forgets the card ever existed in only 5 minutes.

I'm a bit worried about the animals

So if the hamster is defnitely going to be eaten by the iguana can you drop the chameleon between them then the hamster will be able to do one, picking up the card on the way to the nearest airbrick

Then you...

It's your sons problem not yours. Ground him & don't let him eat until he gets it back. After a few days he'll be able to fit between the boards to get it. So he will have learnt a lesson too!
