The fuel system - 93 model
Discussion
Hello guys, could you help and outline from start to finish regarding the fuel system? I think this is stopping my chimaera from starting and running.
It had a fresh rebuild and not having any luck getting the girl to run, actually it did run when John was down but got progressively worse, started on all 8 and those numbers diminished pretty quick. Used easy start to fire her up but now, nothing...any ideas or any enlightened tvr monks had same problem before?

Fuel pump priming? Got Roverguage? Take the side repeater indicator off of the car and plug it into one of the injector plugs to make sure that the injectors are firing. Got a fuel pressure gauge? Tried unplugging the maf sensor?
Is it just spinning over and doing nothing, or coughing and spluttering occasionally?
You got the timing right, all of the leads on the right way? Can you put the dizzy in upside down on these things, did it run ok for those few moments when it did run?
We need more info!!

Yeah, even if it was flooded you would get the occasional splutter so I would be going for ignition too. Check the injectors are firing though with a bulb, it could be a dodgy connection on the fuel loom.
If the maf is still plugged in and you've exploded it, unplug it. In fact try it with the maf unplugged even if you haven't killed it..
Check spark!!

You don't need a sensor light thingy, the ford side repeater bulb holder plug should fit into the injector loom plug. Take the side repeater off of the car, plug it into one of the injector plugs and the bulb should flash whenever the injector would pulse..
The pop is probably fuel, take a sparkplug out to see if it's flooded in there

Yeah i checked and swapped them over, did not start but good thinking! So I swapped them over and John from Brundall was sure we had them right anyway...funny thing is, before we took everything apart the car did run and started everytime!! Im hoping the wiring is fine because we had to extend the stepper motor wiring because it was caught on something :/
So you've retimed the car too then?
Why did you do this? Have you had the dizzy out?
If so, are you certain you've got it back correctly and timed it to TDC?
Are you sure you've got the firing order and plug leads correct?
Have you had anything else apart or unplugged - ignition amp or coil for instance

I've had the whole engine out of the car for a performance rebuild!
The car has not started on it own, and wont start even with easy start now (dont want to wash the bores to much)
Yes I put the dizzy back in but completely forgot to time it up i just stuck it in (i am only 23) and still a newbie with mechanics really even though it is my job.
But John said he had it timed up and used the timing light to do so, I am stuck for words really

It's more then likely the problem.
If the dizzy was put in incorrectly then you've no chance.
Who's John?
You need to set No1 cylinder at TDC then drop the dizzy in so that when in position the rotor is pointing at No1 contact on the dizzy.
Work round from No1,... 1, 8, 4, 3, 6, 5, 7, 2,
rotation clockwise as viewed from top of dizzy
Passengers side odd numbers with number 1 at front of engine
Drivers side even numbers with number 2 at front
Mark in white 28 degrees on the pulley.
Start her up with timing light connected to No1 and check.
Timing should be correct at medium engine speed with vacuum disconnected.
That's if I've remembered correctly
