Hi all i'am currently new to the form, as I have only bought my Tvr s1 a couple of months ago.

Just looking for some help or advise reguarding the Rev counter which has stoped working, I have checked the fuses and wiring which I bleieve is connect to the coil which seam all fine . Iv disconnected the White multiplug from the Rev counter and put a volt meter to it and Iam getting power to the Rev counter but needle isn't moving. And more advise on testing the Rev counter would be helpful or if I need to buy a new one has anybody got one!

Hope somebody can help.

Hi courty

I have removed my tacho from my S1 as I have now installed a Cosworth 24v engine and this uses coil packs and not a distributor. So if you wish to try it you can - and if ok you can purchase it (we can talk costs via pm)

I'm in Fairfield Stockton

Do NOT throw the old one away! They can be convered to a more modern electronic system and these specific TVR faced dials are getting hard to come by. Make absolutely sure you wire it right or the S1 wont run as you wont get power to the coil!

Ingleby Cardboard.

The Ignition circuit goes 'through' the rev counter on the S1 instead of the more familiar layout where it takes a pulse connection from the coil. When I bought my S1 (many years ago)the car would not start without putting a direct feed to the coil effectively bypassing the rev counter. I suspected the rev counter was the issue but eventually realised that the fuse was corroded in the main fuse box. Once I sorted that the engine started and the rev counter worked fine. My point I think is that if the issue was the wiring then unless you have the same 'retro fitted' direct short to the coil then the car would not start either. Me thinks the issue is internal to the rev counter itself.

The reversing light switch on the Type 9 gearbox is normally quite robust in my experience but I have known the rubber connection plug to fall off. It then gets nicely dry fried on the top of the exhaust. If you remove the two self tappers from rear of the centre console you should have enough room to lift the console up far enough to lift out the 'storage bucket'. You should then be able to see the switch/plug. Seeing it and getting at it are not the same thing though.............

Good Luck
