Your first ever car: Would you want it again?
Discussion
Not my first car but I had a 3.0l GXL when I was 18 yrs old, this one and I loved it
Now in my early 40's I see this one for sale in a dealer so I rushed down with my fist full of cash and went on a test drive , it was awful , no power steering , terrible brakes , jerky carburetted power delivery and wandering handling
Rose tinted glasses for sure . Tragic really

I had a Mini Thirty with a stage 2 head, bigger carb, full Maniflow exhaust and a few other bits and pieces. It wasn't outright fast but it was significantly quicker than my friends' A reg and F reg Fiestas and was great fun through the twisties.
Only got rid as I didn't have the space and it was stored outside so I saw it practically falling apart before my very eyes.
So yes, if I had the space, time and money to buy and restore it I would.

I thought the Marina 1.8 TC was an awesome bit of kit ...I know better now
Dad had a 1.3 Coupe and then traded it in for a 1.8TC.I learnt to drive in it and thought it was an awsome car :-)
TBF it did sound nice with the twin SUs.
First car I ever crashed, putting into a field after running out of talent trying to correct it when the back end decided to have a mind of its own.
No kerb or fence saved any damage and I only told my Dad 20 years later :-)
He did wonder why there was so much mud on the wheel arches when he washed it the Sunday after.
Back on topic, first car was a 1976 orange Mini 1000.
It was the first of 4 Minis I owned over the next 6-7 years.
I would have it back in a heartbeat.
1988 Golf Tour (1.8 GL - sort of) . I'd consider it, but it would have to be as it left me rather than as it came (refreshed suspension, clean as a whistle) and for the same price (£800 as a trade in). No PH Hero / motoring scalpel but a torquey and long-legged cruiser that could handle a b-road hustle when offered up.
I have inherited a VW Polo from my last relationship and whilst car finance is against the PH religion, it's nice knowing where it's been, that it's still in warranty, has free servicing and just generally does the necessary job of transportation in relative anonymity pretty well. Trouble is I don't need to drive in the week generally, so it may be going soon to be replaced by something older (more interesting, less well equipped but probably in the same order of expense, excluding depreciation!).

Land Rover SIII SWB with Fairey overdrive, free wheeling hubs, Tropical Roof and mysterious mushrooms growing in the passenger foot well. I would have it back in an instant. Preferably without the mushrooms. Could never get rid of the buggers despite new carpets and applications of fungicide.

My first was an Austin Maestro 1.3 HLE, with the 3+E gearbox where there was such a chasm between 3rd and 4th (e) that it was farcical.
Exactly same as this below....Some things are better left in the past.........
Mine was a D reg 1.3 City in red.Exactly same as this below....Some things are better left in the past.........
Part of me would love to have it back again, but as others have posted, after the first few trips down memory lane it would sit and rot, and it was too good for that, even if it has already rotted to death - must have a look and see if it is still alive, I doubt it though.
1995 Peugeot 306 XLDT. Poverty spec, but to a 17 year old, it was a rocket with that old school turbo diesel shove! I actually used to like the noise it made from cold, it would run on three cylinders for a short while as one of the glow plugs was duff and the engine was really lumpy for the first few minutes of the journey!
I would have it back as a winter/tip run/dog car, but not as a daily. That was the first and last diesel car I've owned.
