I am always fascinated and interested to hear from people about what they wish they knew about the world of work at 21 and what, in hindsight, they would have done differently.

For me I would not have chased the highest paid jobs at the expense of learning interesting and enjoyable skills and would have trusted myself to try a few different things before it was too late.........

At 21? That hard work pays off and to use the stamina of your youth to your advantage. Also, networking and building relationships with the right people is far better than finding the job that is the easiest to do, pays you okay and has eye candy.

Don't worry about getting kicked out of university, you may have to wear a uniform now (and hate every bone in your body for it) but it will all work out well!

Finish the degree work are paying for you clown!!

Work every hour you can.
Lie, cheat, steal and don't follow any rules if you can get away with it.
Never hit reply-all to an email.
Burn the candle at both ends - you can get away with it when young.
Any woman you find in your 20s can be replaced, never let one get in the way of earning or enjoying yourself.
Go contracting as soon as you have between 5 and 10 yr under your belt.

Buy every house you can, literally.
I was 21 when prices were normal.
I wish had power of hindsight.

Ignore the law, it is a red herring and a bloody hard way to make less money than anyone who isn't doing what you do will ever believe you make. What you really love is helping people, cars and property.

You will inevitably find highly incompetent people in high places. They are useless at their jobs but expert at playing the game and protecting their positions.

dont sell property ever, particularly if its rented out generating income and especially not to fund depreciating assets like cars

dont waste too much time in dead end jobs close to home because its an easy routine - get out into the world sooner, goto a city where there is so much more opportunity
