Evening all.

I'm on my second Nexus 5 after i cracked the screen on the first one. Went through insurance and got this one which has been less than reliable.

The latest issue was that it just suddenly one day went blank and i couldn't get any response from it. So, again another insurance claim and £50 excess and i got it back. Great i thought.

Only not so great, it powered on and i thought all was well but quickly it displayed the same issues as before it went away. The phone has been returned to factory standard and it is definatley the same phone i sent away, sent back as 'repaired'.

Sequence of events are something like:

1. Press power button from sleep state. Nothing. The screen does 'light up' though and the phone seems to be on. It connects to the car bluetooth for example.
2. I hold the power button for a while
3. Phone seems to switch off
4. Phone doesn't respond to power button but does respond to diagnostic boot (both volume buttons and the power at the same time)
5. I can start the phone from here and it will be OK for a while but then the sequence starts again.

Points to note are that the phone is not on v5 at the moment, but it was when it went away. I have been using non nexus chargers, could this be the issue?

Any help greatly appreciated. Very annoyed that it has been returned as fixed when it clearly hasn't and should have been replaced or cash sum given as per policy. Don't really want to be without a phone again for a few days and risk getting it back still broken.

Cheers,

David.

This is of no help whatsoever ... mine does exactly the same thing. Wait until it does it when it should be sounding an important wake-up alarm, you eventually wake up and switch it back on and the ttting thing says "You missed an alarm".

In my (not very extensive googling) a dodgy battery was given as a likely suspect.

Have either of you tried talking to google about the issue rather than insurance? You may find they send you a replacement without charging you any "excess".

Yes, but because I got it through my provider they couldn't help. They tried to put me through to LG but that yielded nothing.
