Since Barry got that new oscillating saw tool, no S is safe yikes

He had a practice on Austin last weekend. Now all I need is to make the box bit in the boot, fit a bit of Phillpot carpet, then I will have an Alan461 roof stowage mod.

So be careful where you park, or when you return, you could find your S has cooling vents it never had before.

He's like a man possessed.
No, now I come to think of it, he IS a man poSSSSSSSSeSSSSSSSSed.

Have you got the original piece that you removed or is it destroyed?

I'd be tempted to stick it back in with sikaflex or something - then if you need future access it's easy.

Open heart surgery indeed! Sooooooo glad you are not a surgeon. Please dont go anywhere near my S with that scary cutter of yours.

I do wholeheartedly agree with the method though. However I am not as brave (I can think of other words!) as you and went for keyhole surgery instead. I did however carry out much the same 'surgical' procedure and used a fibre filled resin to complete the re-securing of the bobbin.
I did however have a rather smaller hole to fill!

You can just see where the round hole was. As this is the area where the bonnet comes down I stuck a small patch of rubber (actually cut from a car inner tube) onto the contact area. Had the cut out area remained prominent I had intended to put in a larger rubber 'patch' to hide it.

(Can I respectfully make one suggestion in your case: dont leave the hole with sharp corners. They would seriously raise stress levels in the g.r.p. at these points.Drill holes at the ends of each 'cut'.)
