TVR S2 Rev Counter
Discussion
Still got the big bad 5 litre in her but since the upgrade I have never managed to get the on board rev counter to work with the 14CUX system. I think that the base connection to the system has cooked the instrument as it initially worked erratically then expired! I am using a digital interim solution which is ok but I would like the original instrument to work correctly. I borrowed another to test and it worked so have confidence that it is now wired correctly.
This is what happened to mine when the engine loom was changed to accomadate the change from flapper to hot-wire Simon. Have now got it sorted but just need another counter. Worst case will be to take it out and live with the hole until the instrument is fixed but would like to do the dashboard out and fit the new one in one job. Not overly impressed with Speedy cables as they are not so Speedy and there are some horror stories of instruments coming back not fixed / terminal or uncalibrated... Sort of got used to the digital one but would like to get it all working!
As a last resort (i.e. can't get a matched face, that sort of thing) the electronic circuit inside an 'old school' tacho is pretty basic, and easy to replace with a new DIY board and a few components......
Yeah, I know, if you're not into electronics, but just thought I'd mention it....
