Remove a TVR designed and built, race-derived flat-plane crank V8 and replace with a ten-a-penny Yank crate engine? Why is it you don't see people transplanting TVR engines into these kind of projects
Let me think...........
Anyway, there is some chap in the US doing an e-type restomod with a carb fed TVR Speed 6 which is a pretty exciting project. An old M5 with a Speed Six transplant would be cool too. It'd be faster and just as reliable (vanos anyone?)

LSA will get you to 800+ very easily
You're not wrong but you need it wrapped in a Monaro Oh, and my vote goes with a Rover SD1.

I am sure that the rx7 would work well, but they lack character to me.
Favourite so far is jag xj6 I think that could actually work!
This ls3 does look like great value!

You might as well just buy an XJR.
Bear in mind that despite the pic you need to buy a hell of a lot more to get that running - really it's just to swap out a blown engine - most buy complete engine/box/ecu kits from the USA - take a look on Ebay.com
I have a Cerbera 4.5 and an Ultima GTR with an LS7.
They are not in the same league. The LS7 provides massive 'go' at any revs but the AJP needs some revs. They are different but fun in their own way.
My LS is standard but with a very good exhaust and has been dyno'd at 577hp. I suspect the TVR would struggle to see 375hp. If I change the cam on the LS I should see 630 for a few hundred £s. Spend some more and you can have over 700hp.
The LS3 is cheap but you get no dry sump and you need to spend a bit to get it to 550hp and anything more will need boosting.
If you are going to use a Rover SD1 then an LS7 isn't large enough!
You need a 27 litre V12 Rolls Royce Meteor.
I just happen to have a few if you are interested!

I've always wanted to put a LS engine in a Jaguar XJ (Pre X308). It was a fairly common conversion to do over in the states with small block chevy motors with a few places selling off the shelf kits to allow everything to bolt up, I'm sure adapting one of these kits for a LS engine wouldn't be difficult.

The LS3 is fairly quiet. I had to cut the rear boxes off the Camaro to get it sounding reasonable
This is me at MB world in the Camaro

The Z06 has a bi mode exhaust. Mine has different cams and long tube headers. Do don't have a clip at full bore but.
You can heat the off beat tick over from the mid cams and as you'll see, I can manually open the exhaust valves.

i'm in Surrey as well, if you want to go out in it when the weather improves .........

Both of those sound wonderful - I almost bought your Camaro when you were selling it, but ended up with a house instead The Z06 sounds bang-on with that offbeat idle, do you have any videos of WOT?This is me at MB world in the Camaro

In response to the original question, I think a 1967 Camaro, totally stock-looking on original tiny (15"?) wheels would be the perfect home for an LS7. Black, with white stripes.
Hmmm.. how much is shipping from the US? http://www.lingenfelter.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Scree...
I'd like mine in one of these please - nice and comfy http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/r...
