Yesterday a friend told me he`s demolishing his l322 Range Rover 4.2 Supercharged.
Am i going to face problems with the electronics if i try to mount his engine and ECU in my old Range Rover Classic?
Have you ever done something like this?
thank's from italy

I'd guess its totally impossible?

your classic and the L322 have only one thing in common - they are Range Rovers

I've seen a Porsche Turbo engine put in a Mini - if you have enough money to throw away pretty much anything is possible

why not just buy a Supercharged L322 as prices are now sub £10K (UK prices)

Check the height of the engine to see if it will actually fit under the bonnet...

IIRC, the Jag engine is taller than the LS3.

IIRC the engine needs to talk to the gearbox on the Jaguar engine so I think you may struggle.

I can modify the hood, or do a light body-lift

Isn't this what JE fit to the Zulu?

The Range Rover Classic is the same as the defender underneath, just with a nicer body on top, so it shouldn't be too hard.

If you ran into too much trouble with the ECU's the Megasquirt+Compushift might be worth looking at.

Someone has fitted a 5.0 Supercharged into a Classic, so I am sure it can be done.

Can't wait to see if you pull this off, I'd love to drop a modern JLR lump in my Classic smile

Someone has put a V12 Lamborghini engine into a Fiat 500 before so I'm sure an RR engine will fit in to a RR with some fettling and electrical wizardry!

the standard JLR ecu will require all sorts of inputs for it to run the engine ... ignition key / air temp / speed sensor etc .... so easiest way is to get the engine to run on a stand alone ecu.

I have seen someone strip out the wiring and ecu from a Jag - but in the end he couldn't get it to run right.

I have a 4.2 jag s/c in an off road racer running on a pectel ecu which was supplied by ACR Deeside ...for road use you need a simpler ecu which will be cheaper.

But sounds a good project !!
