Im looking at a new datejust for the wifes 30th, When I bought my deepsea I was told there was absolutely no discount available on rolex now, Although Ive heard different. Should I shop around on day of purchase or just go to first place that has it ?

Id prefer to buy from one of the dealers around my way, something about buying online just doesn't seem right unless anyone can vouch differently ?

Iconic Watches in Blackburn have a good reputation and offer great savings on new. Not as cheap as buying from Europe, especially Italy, but if you're not confident doing this then they offer a great saving. Also try Grant at Top Notch Watches in Carlisle. Dominic Hackett is a good recommendation too.

The rule is no discount on stainless steel sports models (Submariner, deep sea,etc)......... But you should be able to negotiate discount on gold or bi colour models...... Goldsmiths used to have a structure of discount given on certain models..... Not sure if it has changed recently. Sometimes it just depends on how well a shop is doing that week and how far off target they are so well worth shopping around. Be up front and tell them you want a discount or you are not buying.....

You will ALWAYS get a decent discount on a date just of any variety.

Least on a steel, more on a bi and most on a precious.

from an AD, perhaps. I asked for a discount on a no-date Sub at my local AD and was very politely turned down.

I then followed the very strong recommendation to talk to Dominic Hackett and was extremely pleased with his price on a brand-new Sub - hasn't been off my wrist since the moment I got it

to be fair to Iconic though - they got very close to Dom's price, but in the end, the slightly better price, the personal service and Dom's infectious enthusiasm got him the business

I would have thought the best place to buy would be Europe due to the current exchange rate ...

In the UK, perhaps. Loads of discounts outside Treasure Island.

I was in a rolex shop in Europe last week and they were saying that for new orders from rolex the factory aren't yet showing any pricing due to the chf move. So they can order stock but can't get a firm price. Gmt master blue black was about 700 pound cheaper at current list price - I checked that one as I knew the UK list for comparison

When i bought my sub i managed to get a discount by means of a necklace at half price for the wife. They were adamant that they could not give a discount on the rolex and that the reciept needed to show full price but the necklace was bought with approximately a 30% discount which was a £500 saving. The was a high street chain as well so there are ways and means.

I'm a bit gutted, was going to buy an explorer II a few months before christmas but ended up buying my wife her oyster instead. It cost £3600 from memory but I got a £300 discount off that. At the time I was told I would get around £500 off the explorer II when it was time to buy. Went to buy today and found out there is now 0% discount available! Plan B was a flight through Heathrow for a tax free one, phoned them to check stock and was told they won't sell tax free unless you show a ticket going outside the EU!

As several people have suggested, speak to Dominic Hackett. Brilliant and honest service. I've bought and sold through him and couldn't be happier. Previously went to some watch places around Piccadilly and 'taking the piss' is being kind!

That's how duty free works! You are supposed to declare any duty free goods you bring back into the UK with a value over £390 and pay the duty anyway. Not that anyone does of course but it is smuggling!

On previous business trips to London I've brought back 'luxury' goods for the missus from mulberry, they weren't interested in where i was travelling, they just sold me the goods less the vat. Sure it's up to me to declare it afterwards but oops...

What Rolex were saying was totally different, they said they wouldn't sell it to me minus the vat unless I produced a ticket for outside the EU. No mention at all of me paying the vat at customs/my final destination.

That's the difference between tax free price and duty free.

Have a look on corporate discount sites, many offer discount on gift cards etc.
I bought my dated sub in December with 5,700 worth of goldsmiths gift cards
I paid 5000 for 5700 worth of gift cards which is a good discount on a ss sub

Just catching up with this ....Ladies Datejust Bimetal 26mm fluted bezel, diamond dial -- Retail £7100..Purchase price £6400. Result. Rolex AD.

Im picking up soon, but still undecided on the champagne face or sunburst? They assure me sunburst is new and trying to push that on me but I just can't make my mind up. Any thoughts on sunburst? (has stripes whole way round)
