My Kurdish brother-in-Law has been following events involving the Peshmerga and the battle for Kobane very closely. He has sent me the following link to a video taken by Kurdish fighters in the last few days. It shows American built APCs which ISIS had taken from Iraqi forces in recent months, coming under fire and being destroyed by the Kurds.

The Peshmerga seem very well equipped in matching uniforms and the fight seems rather unequal.

Advisory: The video is not 'graphic' but clearly there are real people in those vehicles so it is sobering and a fascinating view from a front line we would not normally see.

Mods: Hope this is okay.

Fascinating. I'd noted previously that they seemed much more "switched on" and disciplined than a lot of other fighters we've seen in the past - I daresay because their way of life is very much threatened by ISIS, so they're highly motivated. I get the impression that a lot of the US trained Afghans for example couldn't really care less and will simply trot off to the Taliban once the US is truly gone; not because they're cowards or anything, simply because it doesn't matter to them. I don't know if my take on that is correct though.

Not only are the Kurds seriously threatened by ISIS they also sense a chance to win independence and form their own homeland at long last. They have much to lose and also much to gain.

Are those heat seeking missiles? They certainly have a weird trajectory

And what is with both sides just standing out in the open? Take it they don't have many decent snipers on either side otherwise it'd be easy pickings

Looks like a wire-guided missile, similar to the French Milan that the UK use.

Edit- Found a longer video, it is a Milan.

Always nice to see ISIS get their arses handed to them, the Kurds seem like a professional and well disciplined people, they have earned their own homeland unlike the Iraqis that ran away.

Unfortunately they weren't even invited to the conference on ISIS and no country wants to give them their homeland so I don't see it happening.

Considering they are supposed to welcome death it was odd to see the ISIS taking a risk and sending in that big truck to pick up their two men.

Nice to see it get hit. Think the virgins have run out you fekers!

I was amazed 2 guys got out of the first APC, then to get hit again hiding behind the one that came to rescue them must test their faith somewhat.

My B-i-L informs me you can hear the Peshmerga taunting ISIS by shouting 'Allah Akbar' mockingly as they fire on them.

Tiz a pity they haven't yet beheaded ISIS but it's nice to know they're getting a kicking.

Are those daesh guys brave or stupid?

They obviously knew the Kurds were there but still chose to drive in their direction. I would understand if it was a VBIED but this wasnt as that would only have the one lucky occupant with a one way ticket to Junah to meet with his 72 virgins.

What exactly was their plan? Drive right up to the Kurds, exit APC and start shooting?
