I'm not sure how they can say 'Blistering Performance' it's going to be FWD, it will have a big problem selling in numbers if it's priced similar to the upcoming Focus RS, especially if that later is going to be AWD.

I guess it depends on your definition of 'blistering performance' but to dismiss these modern super hatches because they are FWD is kind of missing the point.

However, in the latest Chris Harris vid http://youtu.be/vm4ajQxImhE the Trophy R Megane is quicker than the new M3 on track.
Around the Nurburgring it is also faster than the F430, 996 911 Turbo, 360 Stradale and a Caterham R500.

The new Type R could well have similar performance to the Trophy R, do you not consider that fast enough?

I have not driven any of the new type hot hatches but have had plenty of Type R's a DC5 with over 270bhp and it just could not put the power down, I'm sure the technology had moved. The ring is a fast circuit so you can maintain your speed. I really want to love the new Civic and it's on my shopping list but having sampled RWD for the last few years it's got to be a good steer to tempt me, and M3 quick to 100 it won't be.
