At the end of November last year we relaunched our website johnnyandjenny.co.uk we have already tweaked a few things, changed the payment gateway added live chat etc. and would love feedback as it stands, it is very much a work in progress!
It was created in Shopify by myself and we did all the photography etc. I have asked friends and family what they think but would love some feedback from people who don't know us or the company.
Thank you in advance.

Cheers
Gareth

First impressions are i have no idea what you are selling ?

Then i find at the bottom once i scroll down this

!Say hello to Johnny and Jenny! A shop for Men, Women and Home. It's a shop where we are passionate about our brands, where they have been lovingly hand picked because...!

This needs to be at the top of the page and you really need to tell everyone what it is you are selling.

To be fair the menu across the top does say "Men, Women, Home" and some other stuff.

But as this is PH, I feel duty-bound to point out that when I follow the "Hello" link it says "because we believe their is something special about them" in your text, which of course is a capital offence. I didn't think that ending that sentence on the home page just with the word "because" made it obvious there was a link to follow - you might want a "..... see more" after that, or some way to make it obvious the rest of the sentence is somewhere else.

Works well enough, a good functional layout, but it wouldn't inspire me to buy anything. However, I am a bloke and clothes do not interest me.

It looks like you have 0 pages indexed by Google.

Unless this is deliberate (waiting for launch) I would advise creating a sitemap and submitting on google webmaster tools.

Photography is pretty good, and I quite like the crispness of it, but it is just a little bit too generic - presumably it was created from a standard template?

You need to call shoppers to action - perhaps show a selection of stock on a slider on the homepage for example, so people see things they might be interested in without clicking, which draws them in.

The huge banner doesn't help - why does it need to be half the page when all it says is "up to 60% off" and "free postage"? Why not show more of your products?

I am not saying ours is amazing, as I am an evening webmaster, but for an alternate approach I have just revamped www.elephantinmyhandbag.com

Terrible website, please try again.

What do you sell?
Who are your target market?
Why is your site so bland?
Why is your website exactly the same as every other website selling stuff?

Questions are rhetorical and points for you to think about.

Hi there, I've also been running a Shopify E-commerce store for the past year so here are my thoughts.

I would start by changing your home page title to something more search optimised, and then I would go ahead and do the same for your homepage meta description to something that describes what you sell a little better.

As said below your site does look a little generic, but without paying somebody to create your website for you it's fine for now, perhaps think about looking at the paid themes when you can.

I think your product photo's are good for the most part, however I'd invest in a mannequin and photoshop it out for your clothing pictures, it's hard to imagine what a top will look like on when it's hanging on a hanger.

The main thing I would change is your banner, get some product photo's in it, because if you land on your site you don't know immediately what it's about, and that's key. I guess you have a pretty high bounce rate?

I think it looks good and I'd buy from there; it's functional and simple... I would add a clearer description on the front page as the likes of TopShop can get away with not stating who they are / what they do... but for smaller co's - it can help to feel like (as a visitor) you know the exact nature of the website.

If you can't get an idea of what that website sells from the home page within a few seconds you've bigger problems than the website.

With that said, I'd definitely look to showcase more of your products on the homepage. I do like the clean design but a bit more vertical scrolling wouldn't hurt to give a better picture of your line-up, or at least quickly shove some products under noses on landing.

I would rework the copy a bit too, it's all a bit generic, like this in the bottom area / footer

... Which may as well read " Lorem Ipsum etc".

Otherwise it's not bad at all, it's obviously a shopify site in terms of feel and nav. the product shots are nice and clean. With a bit of time spent on copy writing and the technical stuff (which I'm assuming is pre-launch?) it'll be much better.

I'll also caveat everything above with the fact I'm viewing it on an iPad.

You've got a 'their' instead of 'there' on your news page.

Edit: Apologies, I leapt in without reading Stu R's post. He's right - the copy wants a bit of work. There are a few errors and it could perhaps be a little snappier.

Sorted that, am trying to add a see more button after the blog preview, thank you

Photography all done by me once I realised how much even mates rates meant! It was a standard template, would like to get something more custom for us but for the moment it's a starting point to work on. We do normally have more stock images on the slider so will make sure to do that all the time. I will have a look at your site, thank you for replying

Thank you for replying! We have tried to keep it as simple as possible, try different things as we go along hopefully!

Thank you, will have a chat with a copywriter see if we can't make it a little less generic, much appreciated!
