How much for a front door?!
Discussion
I appreciate that I'm new to this owning your own place malarky, but didnt realise I was that far out of reality when it came down to costs for things.
We need a new front and back door to the house.
Just been quoted £2860 for the two! Sheeet, I almost laid an egg when he told me and bless him, he thought I'd be chuffed with what he'd offered, I had in my head that it was going to be around £5-700 for them!
I assume I was well off the mark and the reality is doors do cost a fair whack then?
Guess it's the cost of living in reality eh...

They are a LOT. I also need a front (with 300mm side panel) and a back door. I've had various quotes, the starting price for a PVC (not what I want) door and frame fitted seem to be just over £1k. For composite or aluminium I've been quoted about £1500 or a little more per door.
Does anyone on PH supply and fit doors? If so please email me if you'd like to quote (I'm in Bedfordshire). I'm after Smart Aluminium I think.

I think we paid about £800 for a solid oak contemporary type door (just the door) with all the hardware on top of that.
Then we had two double glazed frosted glass side panels a custom frame and the number frosted on.
Fitted and finished was about £2.5k
It all depends on the size/make/quality. We'd seen prices up to £10k for what we had done. Wicks do composite doors at around £700 each

I'm currently looking for something very similar. Then we had two double glazed frosted glass side panels a custom frame and the number frosted on.

Any chance of a picture?
We're after compsite Georgian style with two small glass square windows at the top and 4 inset pannels and a yale keyless lock. Back door will be PVC with two inset pannels at the bottom and 35% glass with georgian sectional beading embedded in it to give the appearance of separate panes.

Then £2800 is a tad steep.Cost wise to the company is probably around £900-1k at most.
Two fitters will be out by lunch.
£2000-£2300 (inc) would be nearer the mark.

I paid just under 2.2k for these. Plus the vat of course.
What type of doors are you after?
£2.2k for 2? And was that the fitted price? What type of doors are you after?
The Oak door was £1243 IIRC and the hardwood door £943 painted (sprayed). Supply only, was building my house so the builder fitted them.
Edited, if you click on it, it seems to work.
