Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a device for reducing exhaust note by at least 4 db? Hopefully one that doesn't strangle the engine too much.

Ta very much

I put an extension on mine, it's about 8" long and looks dead silly. But it scraped me past the noise regs!

Don't forget about induction noise if they have a drive-by limit.

A company called ACT do them - a lot of the TVR boys use them. They come in different pipe diameters and clamp over your tail pipes, reducing the noise by about 3-5 dB without any noticeable effect on power.

They will make them for any size bore of exhaust

I have the TVR standard 2.5 inch ones, and if you live anywhere near the East Midlands you are welcome to pop over and either try them if they will fit your car, or at least listen to them on my car, comparing the noise with and without . I have an iPhone noise app to give you actual readings

If you're only looking at reducing by 4 or 5 Db then you should get by with a Decibel Devil http://www.decibeldevil.co.uk. I use them, and also have the ACT cans, and in my opinion they don't affect top end power as much.
