Welcome to the mad house and becoming an Aston Martin owner!

Great looking car and fantastic spec. I bet you can't wait for the weather to get better so you can enjoy a good blast. Love at first sight...it often happens with an AM car. Enjoy in good health.

As for the B&O stereo, I think I need to spend more time setting it up, but it seems to be source dependent e.g. on CDs it sounds very good with a coherent balance across the frequency range, where as on the FM tuner it seems a lot more wooly in the bottom end. I've yet to try iPod/iPhone source to see how that compares.
It sounds weak on FM like any decent system - you need the nice thick uncompressed WAV files off a CD to get it sounding decent. I actually sat in that very garage for 10 mins trying to make a system sound more expensive (till the battery warning light enthusiastically chipped in)! I've actually re-ripped CD's for my SSD so as it gets sources at the least compressed MP3 res.

Lovely looking thing - switch the radio off and enjoy the music!

I phoned HR Owen about that one on what must have been the day after you agreed to buy it! All's well that ends well - found the one for me a few days later. Welcome!

Congratulations James. You have a beautiful car. Enjoy it.
Vantages still look stunning today, and to think the concept was unveiled 12 years ago this month.

A question for Ken Figenus about the audio system.
I am puzzle why you refer to 'least compressed MP3 res.'

I download an uncompressed file, then extract the audio as a WAV file. For car use, I simply place on a memory stick and plug into the centre console USB socket. The sound is played on the 700w audio.

I presume my files are not compressed at all, so not sure why you mention, 'least compressed'.

A while back you helped me with advice for an external mic. I have the kit, but you would laugh at my incompetent attempt with it so far. The mic. taped to the side window, even with windjammer, does not pick up any exhaust sound. I will keep trying though with different locations, until I can obtain a reasonable result. A pity, because I tried so hard to make sure I held the steering wheel properly, throughout the GoPro filming. - smile

Funny how one "pulls the trigger" on a new car or a new watch but one buys a suit or a pair shoes. I wonder what the psychological difference is about buying something extravagant that makes one use such an odd Americanism to replace the word 'bought'? biglaugh

Love that colour! I find it odd that after many years I can view what is essentially the same model, but in a different setting or colour, and still get excited by its looks. None of the other cars I've owned have the same mesmerising effect or wow factor and everyone says the same about AM. Hope you get lots of enjoyment, snow or sun!

Hi Jon

Rarely do you get to download an uncompressed audio file to my knowledge...they are all MP3 no? This is a compressed format and therefore lossy compared to the original audio...fine for jogging with an iPod! If its over 300kbps data rate rather than the more usual lower datarate MP3 then it will be pretty good. Nothing beats a CD though as these are uncompressed WAV files (typically 700mb for an album).

Try your mic in the boot! Also I think a Bute tunnel run is brewing for a noisy video with some proper mics and cams. Pm me if you fancy a take!
