Looks very nice. Might be useful if your chassis is beyond repair? Is it someone off this forum that does the work??

Clues in the shop name and if you look through all the other stuff for sale then there are some more bits for Wedge's..Shame that this project won't now be completed, I guess we should just take advantage to grab some parts while we can..I wonder what will happen to the complete car now..That will probably get broken up as well...frown

me thinks a tidy profit will be had from breaking that lot.....if you've got the space / time / £££ then why not

Think he was going to flog the whole car as project from memory on the other thread, then split the bits

Opportunity was there to pick up a nice wedge with a bucket of spares. It would appear, given the level of bidding, that few could see the value that was there. It was very clear what was included.

It is a very fair price for 'new' chassis.

I used to own old Land Rovers. I had 5 over the years, ranging in age from 1958 to 1965.

Old Landys often have their chassis replaced due to tin worm. However, the chassis is "the car" and the VIN and reg is tied to this. Change the chassis and you need to use the VIN and reg which comes from that car which had the chassis (provided you also use other parts). There are lots of old Landys with questionable history because of this.

If you buy a brand new like for like chassis then you can continue to use your existing VIN and reg.

If you replace your chassis with a second hand one from another vehicle then you need to other replace items from the donor car:

Your vehicle must have 8 or more points from the table below if you want to keep the original registration number. 5 of these points must come from having the original or new and unmodified chassis, monocoque bodyshell or frame.
Part Points
Chassis, monocoque bodyshell (body and chassis as one unit) or frame - original or new and unmodified (direct from manufacturer) 5
Suspension (front and back) - original 2
Axles (both) - original 2
Transmission - original 2
Steering assembly - original 2
Engine - original 1
https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-registration/radically-altered-vehicles

In short, put that chassis on your TVR then you have to have it re-registered as a Q plate......

If that chassis is being sold without VIN/V5, then you have to by law re-register your TVR after fitting as a Q....

Get a ‘Q’ registration number

You won’t be able to keep your vehicle’s original registration number if one of the following applies:

it has fewer than 8 points
it has a second-hand or altered chassis, monocoque bodyshell or frame
there’s evidence that 2 vehicles have been welded together to form one (ie ‘cut and shut’)

Your vehicle must pass the relevant type approval test to get a ‘Q’ prefix registration number.
Chances of being found out? Slim maybe, but it doesn't change the law (and worth remembering if you try to sell (or buy) a car with a replacement second hand chassis).

The VIN on the wedge chassis is nigh-on invisible at the best of times, it wouldn't take much of a tickle with something abrasive to get rid of it completely... wink

With a Q plate you wouldn't need to bother about emissions on you MOT either, its just visual.

Would you really want a Q?

It would chop a huge amount off the value of your pride and joy, and make it look like either a kit car or a crashed/rebuilt monster....

Wonder if it's just spares that are being sold off or is the entire car being stripped? Real shame if it is. redcard
