I imported my car from Jersey in December 2011 with 25,000 miles on the clock. Checked into Mercedes tier one warranty about £3,000 pa but when I looked at the details there was plenty of potential for arguments so decided against it. Within a short period I had to replace both coil packs( I use a local Merc specialist dealing with older cars, mine is a 2004) I think Merc upgraded the packs which are now fitted. Since then complete overhaul of aircon system, new ABC pump and hydraulic lines, new Bridgestones all round with new tyre pressure monitors plus usual servicing. Total cost over the period apprx £10,000. Mileage now about 36,700.

Where would I be if I had taken the warranty? Well servicing would not be covered also tyres and monitors plus various aspects of other work carried out and certainly no arguments about what is covered so I think I might be about £2,000 better off. These cars represent fantastic value for money at current second hand prices provided you take into account their price new and therefore repairs and parts will be commensurate.
