All, I'm will be taking a 3,245 mile road trip with the Ultima and towing a light trailer, what tire pressure do you recommend for the highway? Thanks...

Or are you looking for pressure of one of these?

Your very brave, well done for going for such a challenge clap

Have you've sorted trailer tires speed rated for 240 mph?

I couldn't imagine a worse drive than dragging a trailer around for 6-7 hours a day for seven days, have you got a flat cap and pipe to go with it? laugh
Ditch the trailer, pack the side pods carefully and conservatively, a set of underwear per day and a couple of shirts should do!
As for the question.
I'd keep the tyres to your "normal" pressure. Of course if you really do put a trailer on you will need to compensate for hitch weight.

I think Id rather design some kind of a roof box than tow a trailer in an ultima!

Please........ I'm not suggesting no body protection, I see a protective mat in the pic but would also protect from the straps in much the same way as I've done in the past when touring on sports bikes, prettty simple really.

If you know the exact course of your trip ship some STUFF out to the mid point in a pelican box with a preprinted return label to your house. Swap out your clothes at that point repack the box with the dirty stuff and ship it home. Particularly over there you guys get so few chances, due to the weather, and long winters, to really enjoy a trip of that length forget the trailer, smell a little bit and enjoy yourselves. Lee

Hey Lee, that a cracking idea for a long road trip.

Is that one from experience?

No I have been across the states from coast to coast 7 times in a Sunbeam Tiger, a 68 427 Corvette and a 68 Olds 442. Outside of the 442 which had a huge trunk I just mostly stunk, but it was worth it. Lee

If you turn up to that event with a trailer behind an Ultima you will be the laughing stock of the event.

Tyre pressures for the Ultima. I would suggest 18psi front and 21 rear.

There must be a support vehicle for the event. Get someone else to deliver your 'kit' to the start and put it in the support vehicle.

Paul

PS. On the trailer front. The trailer axle needs to be at least the same distance from the ball hitch as the wheelbase on the car. It is the only way it will be stable at speed and not be a bugger to reverse.

All, This is the Cannonball Run, no support vehicle is allowed. The trip will include 19 events (road tracks, oval track, drag strip, wet and dry skid pad) and highway check points. I'll need to bring spare tires, tools, jacks, brake pads, oil & filter, gas, bicycle, helmet, suit, gas, food, water, etc.. I found the following photos, one of an Ultima that participated in the 2006 event that towed, picture of hitch and a viper photo'd towing a trailer.

I don't see how you could do the event with only the side pods. Sending a box to the mid point is not a bad idea but still won't work.

Paul, Sounds about right, the trailer is a 4x8 feet.

AMP research made a bike for Mercedes that fit in a case (easy & fast assemble) This is a high grade mountain bike, the first with full suspension & discs, super light ( I had one)<http://sandiego.ebayclassifieds.com/bicycles/la-mesa/rare-mercedes-benz-mountian-bike-police-version/?ad=37354081>

Trailer is pretty much mandatory for the event to transport equipment during the transit sections. All participants use them if the space in their car is not enough to hold a spare set of tires and associated equipment for several track days.

The trailer should support the additional weight, so the standard tire pressure should be fine. I'm extremity envious, this will be a huge adventure.
