An alternator question...

My 4.2 has an almost new Denso DAN020 alternator on it. I think I accidentally damaged the regulator by shorting out on the main terminal once. The reason I beleve the regulator has gone tits up is the lights pulse when on and my volt meter says 8v to 19v as its output!

Is it possible to just buy a new regulator and from where?

And just out of interest, how many wires go to your alternator? Mines has just two.
