Well i'm sitting at a desk in central London right now and that looks like a bargain. Agree that the door opening on to the street is unappealing though.

I've done this wrong haven't i?

Sales might be down but prices certainly aren't falling.

This might sound stupid, but where do you sleep in that studio flat. Sofa bed, or is there a bed folded away somewhere?

Either you have a pull down bed against the wall that looks like a wardrobe, or in the case of that flat, the sofa will be a pull out sofa bed.

Firstly, no where near London- lets strip London out of the equation.

In parts of Manchester- not even that nice parts either just suburbia some houses are priced ridiculously for what you get and considering the local 'wealth'. Agree on this that I've just seen?

The living room opens right onto the street

Overpriced/over-optimistic borrowing in the recession? Sale is popular but isn't that great away from the 3+bedroom leafy bits.
That is fecking outragous!!!!
12 miles away from that you can pay £115,000 for this:

Interesting to look at its price history:
26 Seymour Grove, Sale, Greater Manchester M33 3AD
£129,000 Terraced, Freehold 20 Jun 2011
£131,000 Terraced, Freehold 26 Jan 2005
£79,950 Terraced, Freehold 18 Oct 2002
£59,500 Terraced, Freehold 28 Feb 2001

- it's got genuine stone setts front AND rear! I guess being close to the tram stop adds a bit. Parking looks like it could be a bit of nightmare though.

The 4yr price jump 01-05. WTF!

About 06-07 we viewed a house round the corner, turn right out of that road- next to the church and it was a Victorian semi with gardens all round etc and that was about 160k then.
You should have snapped it up. The identical house next door to the one you linked to sold for £156,250 in Oct 2007. They'll have spent the last few years feeling a bit sick.

Thats acually pretty cheap for where it is, Very close to the town centre (5 min walk)and a very tight/quiet little street in a poular area.

Depends where you are looking - 90k for a 3 bed with garage in New Mills - ok, it probably levels with Leigh in the desirability stakes, but for value it's pretty good. In the hills, less traffic, great roads, into Manchester in 30 mins on the train. And it smells of Swizzels - win-win.

Cheaper still in Ashton, Hyde, Failsworth, Openshaw, Salford and so on - 50k will get you a two bed terrace needing a bit of work in any of those areas. Loads of cash left for an alarm, a big dog, roller shutters, another big dog in case they shoot the first one, etc etc.
Sale has delusions of Didsbury and it's Almost-Altrincham so the prices are a bit high for what you get size-wise.

There must be something iffy about the house / area if a BTL'er hasn't snapped that up.

I see them being bought when break-even doesn't seem feasible in the short term. On the face of it, that place should make money straight away.

Sale is a commuters joy, Your on M60 and 56, youve got the tram on your doorstep, ideal for City Centre, Wythenshawe and Airport workers.

I would not suggest coming across to certain areas of West Didsbury, or Chorlton.

House prices align to London prices, as well as for food and drinks.

The influx of BBC staff has not helped the cost.

Went looking at flats in the Beetham tower when I first moved to Manchester, christ, your money does not go far there.

Some flats seem decent value but they seem to be going up and up, and an average of 15k for a parking space!

Im in Newton-Le-Willows witch is smack bang in the middle of Manchester and Liverpool, 20 Mins on the train either way.

Since the BBC moved prices have jumped round here especially in the posh parts as they always do, and the rental market has gone really mad.

anyway im blabbing.

I am in the middle of purchasing this for £350k. I commute to London about once a fortnight on average these days and it takes me 2:30 door to door. I thought I was paying allot, then I see the studio flat above and really want to cry. How is anyone meant to get started when prices are just that high.
