I am looking for a relatively cheap car ( dont mind going over 5k limit if its worth it!) Insurance is also an issue, so cant be anything that will cost a bomb to insure. The car needs to be fast and responsive, preferably acceleration under 7 seconds. 4 seats are not essential but would be a bonus. I also do not have to money to run a car with single figure mpg, so mpg of above 25 would be preferable (so no old v8 jags etc). still needs to be a practical ish, reliable everyday car and will be my only car, so no kit cars/ caterhams etc. Currently been thinking along the lines of e36 m3, lotus elise mk1, but neither quite fit the bill; M3 seems like the obvious answer and feels a bit boring, whilst lotus is possibly too drastic. I like sleeper cars ( not too keen on subarus therefore) but car has to look good. Thanks in advance, ask me for any other details if i havnt been clear enough. thanks again

Loust Elise? You would need to be looking North of 7k for the cheapest in the country, not 5k.

How much flexibility in your budget?

5k would be ideal, potentially can go slightly over. And reliablity and price is exactly why i said elise wasnt quite right
