Hi all,

Anyone have any ideas where I can get some shims for the tuscan door hinges?

I've had a look online but I can't find the correct ones that slide onto the hinge.

What is it you want to do?

If it's a case of re-aligning door within the aperture...perhaps to match up the lock hoop/striker with the mechanism in the B-post then you don't need shims.

The top and bottom 'fixed' hinge pieces on the A-post are through bolted using allen headed nuts. If you peel back the side carpet in way of the front roll-hoop in the footwell, you'll see the allen headed bolts. Slacken these off "JUST" enough to allow the whole door to move and re-align - - then tighten the bolts up hard!!

I used a bit of 2mm rubber packing btwn bottom of door and cill to lift it...whilst closing the door to ensure it locked properly...Then really hardened the bolts down.

The bottom of my door its too far out from the bodywork.

My idea is that if I space the top of the door out a touch then it will align better at the bottom - it's hard to explain but hopefully you'll get the jist of it.

Still can't find the shims anywhere.

Hi,

I've just done this on my Griffith 500. I'm not sure if the Tuscan uses the same door hinges and shims as the Griffith/Chimaera. The new TVR parts web site has the Griffith door hinge "spacers" listed for sale. In my case I did not need to buy any spacers I removed one from the bottom hinge and added it to the top hinge then adjusted the striker post to get the adjustment needed.

Aah! OK, see what you want to do!

You seem to have it sorted now - Good luck!

It didn't work :-(

Really don't think it can be made better.

Hi,
I understand your frustration, ideally I would like to adjust mine a touch more, but no more adjustment is available.
If it bugged me enough I would think about shaving the A pillar hinge mounting point to get some adjustment or maybe cut and shut the hinge bracket itself to move the hinge pin in a little. If you go too far then you can always use the spacers to get it spot on.

Hi, was searching to see if this topic was on here, my drivers doors sticks out at the bottom and I see it every time I walk in the garage drives me insane....bit of ocd kicking in. I have taken the drivers seat out to get better access, but can't for the life of me get the Alan key bolts to budge on the top hinge, very tight to get in there but even so they will not move.
I thought that if I put more shims or spacer at the top hinge this would allow it to close properly giving a smooth line.
Am I wasting my time or is there hope somewhere.?
