We all love these threads hey? OK, maybe not! I was not sure of where to put this thread but figured I would ask to see what my potential tyre choices are like before I part with the case.

The time has come to change the tyres on my Escort RS Turbo. It does have its share of suspension mods (Leda coilovers all round and poly bushed), although the tyres (Toyo T1-S) are getting on a bit, and with two of them being near bald it is about time I changed them.

If I drove the car normally as a daily I would normally get a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 3s, which seem to be fine on other cars I have tried or the Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance.

When I had my 205 GTi the R888s were not too bad when I drove it on the road, and for the brief time it was a daily I did enjoy driving it about on some Toyo R888s. Sure it was a little noisy on the run but it was great fun. My only complaint about the R888s was when it came to track action. Maybe I was brutal with them, but I found that even in the GG compound on the 205 in 14" form they overheated and took almost forever to get the grip back despite playing around with the pressures many times. Maybe I was unlucky but it certainly seems that my issue was isolated and it is something the Dunlop DZ03Gs do not suffer from.

What I was going to ask was how do the NS2-Rs (in the say the 160 compound) compared to the PS3 and R888s/R1Rs in
-Grip
-Warm up time
-Noise
-Wear

I understand that they are noisy, but are they noisier than even the R888s? The wear is not a massive concern as long as they do more than a 4,000 miles with mixed use ; I can appreciate that this will go down with track use.

Failing that what other tyres do you suggest in 195/50R15 for a 200(ish) BHP old hatch? I've tried T1-Rs before on a 306 GTi-6 in 195/55 but I could not get on with the soft sidewalls and poor steering feedback.
