Hi all

I've been thinking of changing my standard imola wheels on my chim the main reason for this is looks
the standard wheels just don't fill out the wheel arch as nice as it should !

the wheels that i'm thinking of using would be the sp12 or the team dynamic's pro race 1.2 size
either 17" all round or 17" front and 18" rear

so your views on looks , how does it transform the handling of the car , is the ride a lot harder with the lower profile tyres

your views please cheers keith

I like the Team Dynamics.
In fact I need some new wheels in the correct offset so if you do go this route, let me know the details where you get them from smile

These are 17 front 18 rear SP12s.
Frankly it nicely firms up the ride a tad, making the handling better....IMHO. SWMBO thinks differently!
They are still 215/45 fronts and 235/40 rears. Nothing daft.

Ask Daz the plumber.....he knows where to get them. ET25 fronts 7.5J and ET33 rears 8J, I think you will find.

Personally I haven't seen many other wheels other than the standard ones that suit them. The Ford RS ones look lovely but if anything, a little too big for my liking still.
Something about the Team dynamics ones that just look a little too modern or dare I say it... Boy racer? I do appreciate they're very light and serve a purpose, however.

yes.........I agree with the above.................i appreciate its all about personal taste, but the Chimaera is a 20 year plus design and the imola wheels suit it perfectly.

Filling the wheel arch just does not suit the car.

It is a very "modern look" to have big wheels and low profile tyres.

With standard wheels you have quite a large sidewall area, or profile if you like, and this compliance helps in absorbing some of the shock from the road.

Bigger wheels and low profile stiff rubber, and the cars handling suffers.....[on standard non adjustable shocks ] It feels some what skittish. Again just my personal opinion.

The Chimaera "looks right" with its nose down stance and standard imola wheels.

I would keep the standard wheels, and maybe have them refurbed if they are looking a little tired.,

I need 17s to fit the front brakes and there aren't really any that I like that much apart from mine (but they are the wrong offset)
If I had standard brakes, I would just keep these on it.
No offense to anyone but I never really liked the imolas, they just look a bit too small with the large wings/arches.
But each to their own, it would be boring if we all liked the same

Front wheels are te same fitment as something like the Ford Fiesta ,rears you have them made .they often come up new on fleabay .

Got these babies dirt cheap

Glitter silver

The SP12`s are basically the same but have no writing ,think they do look better .

If you want something which looks more in keeping ,these have got to be the one`s .

Brett, I seem to remember seeing a photo of Chuffmeister's silver Chim shod with SP12s ( as Daz says, similar to TD 4.1s) and it looked brilliant.
If you want to try a set on your car to see how they look, just PM either myself or Daz (sorry Daz, not asked you first, but I know you are a generous guy) and pop over and try them on. You don't live that far from either of us.
