I am seeing Darryl tonight and will get an updated entry list, I am sure there were a few places left so as along as you've paid then I'm sure you'll be OK. Drop him an email to be sure.
Thanks CF, I emailed him again earlier today, just need to know how and who to pay. Many thanks
Hello fellas.
Yep, there are a few spots free. The grid this year is going to be very interesting; Bentleys to Camaros, XJS to Cerberas. I'll be in a rust riddled mk1 MX-5 so don't worry if you're a complete novice, not much going slower than me! Don't worry if it's a bit precious as there is tons of run off at Blyton and should be a friendly bunch if last year is anything to go by. Just as long as your motor fits CarClub 18-30 rules (cool, quick or quirky and in production between 1980 and 1997). If you're not sure then drop us an email.

Thems the rules of CarClub 18-30. We rather liked the name just for cheap tenuous gags about bonking and STDS.
That wasn't my point. I'd guessed where the name came from. I was just surprised that it's being advertised in the PH Classic car forum as being the "The PH Classics Track Day 2015" when it's really only for cars from a very limited range of years. Owners of modern classics get pissed off enough when they turn up at a classic car do and some old codger won't let them in "That's not a classic, why my Labrador's older than that" sort of garbage.
Hey it's your do, it's your rules, but it's bloody miss leading. Sorry.
The original idea was to host a day for older cars because the usual track day involves modern cars that are much quicker than the older ones. That fell a bit flat, so a fair few of us PHers were saved by the MotorPunk track day at Blyton last year. There were a few cars that class as 'cougars', including mine, but the day was well organised and great fun with an interesting mix of modern classics young and old. Thats why its included in this section of the forums, the track day was titled 18-30 before the PH crowd got involved.
OK, thanks for the explanation. I'd just been thinking of branching out from the days I've attended at Goodwood and this had sounded interesting. My track day toy is a 1958 XK150. So I miss out by about 30 years :-).
I know what you mean about mixing car types on the track. The first time I went there were separate days for XKs and E-Types and this worked really well. In following years they weren't able to do 2 days and so mixed the XKs and Es on the same day and this didn't work quite a well as they have very different performance characteristics.
With a dedicated XK day it tended to be that cars which were faster than you anywhere on the track were faster everywhere any so you could just pull to the side and let them past and off they went out of your way.
With a mix, E-Types are naturally faster than XKs, so down the straights they'd fly off into the distance. But around the corners it's largely a question of how game for a laugh you are. So several times I ended up stuck where I'd catch up around the corner and get left of the straight, then catch up again, where overtaking ain't allowed.
These days my XK150 has a 4.2 engine and is quicker than normal street Es so I'm back to the happy state of leaving the quicker cars to go off into the distance and play while not get caught behind others.
Mind a couple of years back someone at one of these events was driving an Elise, so massively quicker around the corners, but couldn't keep up on the straights :-) till I slowed right down and waved him through.

Sorry, perhaps I didn't explain the origins of the 18-30 thing very well. Anyhow, the 'Cougar' clause is FAR more flexible than the 'Jailbait' one to try and limit the really quick and gung-ho modern stuff. We love to see quick old lovelies on track. Nice pic - much of a handful in the wet?
So with a month to go I'll be the first to report car woes. The fuel filler and breather pipes have deteriorated to the point that petrol puddles on the floor at petrol stations, and I also need a new engine mount. I have the pipes but the mount is on back-order at Lotus and it could be a couple of weeks.... what could possibly go wrong?
